I have one here that I am thinking of just taking as a carry on boarding the plane.

I don't think they will let you take it on as a carry on because it could be used as a weapon. They do not allow you to take bats or a golf club and they do not have points on them. I would think a beach umbrella with a point would also fall into that category.

Since this seems to be working well; it may be time to consider buying better quality chairs. I myself won't be back there for nearly a year but would chip in now. I think an upgrade is in order!

I do hope that the chairs will last out the month!! But as the seasons winds down, I think the chairs will too. Anyhow, this is an experiment, If it goes well, maybe we can do it next year.

Calling all Chair exchangers!!! We have had another kind Diser, who is at Vero Beach right now, add another chair and a boogie board to the exchange. Now we will have three beach chairs, a boogie board, and a child chair, and an umbrella. This is getting better all the time. Thanks to all that are participating.

That is a good idea about the boogie boards. My kids wanted one so bad, but we were only there one day and only spent an hour at the beach so we didn't go out and buy one (and I wasn't going to rent two of them for my kids to use for just an hour).

The Manzer family has begun the exchange with 2 adult chairs, 1 child's chair, and 2 chair umbrellas. (In retrospect a full size umbrella may have been better, but I was looking for a way to carry less to and from the beach.) One chair folds fully to lie out on the beach. The other has a pouch in back with backpack straps so that it can be used to carry things and can be carried hands free.

I left the chairs with an envelope listing the names of the families involved so far, but the cast member in charge of the luggage room insisted on a separate tag with the name of the next family on it, so this is probably what will need to be done each time in the future. (I'm not sure how the extra chair and boogie board will be incorporated, but hopefully it will be added easily.)

We got lucky and had beach weather each and every day, with a late day shower every night. Here's hoping that everyone has as much good fortune in the future.

Hi all - back to the real world - I'm the "other DISer" who added the extra beach chair, boogie board, bug spray and toys to the stash......

We had a great time - and if I ever slow down at work will post a trip report - but suffice it to say we had a great time.....

Didn't have any problem adding our stuff to the other.... The person in charge on Saturday knew all about the 2 chairs for the "xxxxxx" family.... so they just added our stuff to it.....

Hope that it worked out for all and you have as great a time as we did.....

I just got back today. I left the chairs for the next family and Bobbiwoz is the last family on the list. Bobbi, be sure to add Tuffy Tigger to the list. I am afraid that each family has added something to the collection, I added another small boogie board and some more sand toys that we brought. The chairs are in excellent shape and if some more families want to join the exchange for September, there are slots available!!
