Vero Beach Chair Exchange

The chairs were in great shape! I don't know what we are going to do with the chairs if you are the last family, I don't think that I thought that far. :confused3 I hope we get a response and someone else will want to use them. If not, I guess you could leave them by the dumpsters in the basement of your building with a note that they are free to whoever wants them. But, I am certainly open to any suggestions.

WE'LL BE THERE SEPT 10-13TH. Don't know if its too late to get on the band wagon but would definately like to. It's just two of us but would love to take advantage of it if they're still available (?) Will PM the OM ! :goodvibes

We just got back last night from a great time at Vero. The chairs, etc., were waiting for us and everything was in good shape. I hope the transfer to bobbiwoz's family goes as well.

On the subject of doing this again next year -- the two men who handle luggage were asking a few questions about how we got this started. There appeared to be some concern about allowing the exchange to occur again -- not sure if the problem was with them or their supervisors. I got the feeling they don't really want to be in the "beach stuff storage business". So there may need to be a different way to transfer to the next person. Any ideas?

Wow! I am surprised to hear this. I guess I would be in trouble with those two! :flower: Anyway, I guess we should shut this down after the 13th. When I originally called to ask if this was okay, the person that I talked to thought it was a great idea and no problem. So I guess it depends on who you talk to. I tipped both the bringer and the taker (so to speak) well, so they said nothing to me. However, I can see how it would be a problem for long periods of time.

Well, after Patterbones, we will dispose of the chairs. Although I still think it worked out quite well. Let us all not forget to send a check to Bnlbebes! Mine went out today!

Just a thought for the future-

I know that everyone in the chain has the best of intentions, but I wonder if the continual adding of items has become the problem with storage...

I know that we had a "noodle" that we could have left in addition, but instead we gave it to a youngster by the pool before we left.

I'm not really sure how much stuff has accumulated but can imagined the cast members getting perturbed as the collection grows and grows.

Maybe we could learn that "less is more", and hopefully they'lll let members continue this practice in the future!:disrocks:

BTW - We haven't been home in a little over a week (trip to the Jersey shore) so if anyone has snet anything throught the mail, thanks. I haven't acknowledged it since we haven't seen our mail in as long.

Our beach day was cancelled due to Katrina. We left Ohio before seeing the post regarding adding names. However, I did talk to the person at VB who was at the Guest Relations desk on Thursday. I saw that our equipment was being stored and it was in good shape. I explained that I thought there would be at least another family or two, I told her about the Disboard, and what we were trying to do. There was a note that she added on to the original envelope. I expect things will continue at least for this year.

The storage area consists of large bins, and what we have does not come close to filling one bin, so I don't think the size is a problem.

Thanks to Tammy and Julie for sharing the cost on the original beach chair purchase. :goodvibes I think that the idea was a great one and hope that more DVC/DIS board members follow suit in the future!
