Hi,

We're considering a trip to VB next year with a 1 and 3 year old and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for car rental agencies with decent car seats. Ideally, we'd be coming from disney to VB and then dropping the car at the airport.

(on a side note, what are the chances of getting a VB ocean room or studio in mid-october if we called 7 months out)

I can't help you with the car rental, but we booked VB 7 months ahead for late March-and I had to make some changes 5 months out-we had no problems. A studio will give you a sofa bed and a queen size bed (and I don't think they have ocean views?) while an ocean view inn room gives you two queen size beds and a fabulous ocean view with a balcony! The kitchenette is the same and was fine for us. We ate breakfast on the balcony every morning and ate snacks for lunch and ended up going out for dinner every night. I think you'll have a wonderful trip!

Well that's good news~ I am wondering whether it will be too much of a hassle driving there with the two little ones and dealing with renting a car, etc.

Could someone tell me which major airport is used to fly into Vero Beach? I'm confused. Is it Melbourne or Orlando or neither.....I'm geographically challenged!:confused3 Also, what type of temps the end of April?

Kim,
Melbourne is closer, but Orlando gave us the most flight options for less money (from Baltimore). We also rented a car and was familiar with the set up. It is a simple drive, about an hour and a half?

If you are renting at Disney than Almo is the easiest, although I have also used Budget, which is not far from DTD. I heard Hertz has 1 free car seat if you are a AAA member.

We always bring our own...a real pain, but I know they are safe.

Car rental: Hertz is off-site so I would not recommend it. I have traveled with little ones before and I would avoid the shuttles whenever possible. It is quite a distance from the airport as well so if you wish to have DH go get the car/van, it will take some time and you will be entertaining your tots while he is gone. IMHO, Orlando is not a bad airport for this but it's still a strain if you are picking up luggage too!

Airport: Orlando is the closest major airport, servicing most airlines. Melbourne is closer if you can use a regional airport. It was not an option for us.
