Hello everyone,

We are going to be at the vero beach resort beginning August. I am so worried about all the reviews I've read about the noseeums. I am highly considering canceling. I have a special needs daughter and if she gets full of bites it will be disastrous. We go to disney every year but never to the vero resort, this would be our first. We have visited different beach resorts in vero and hutchinson and never had any issues. Any suggestions or advice?

You'll probably get more replies over in the Vero Beach thread

They are no joke. I got eaten alive last year but didn’t put any repellant on. We are going back this weekend and will be lathering up every hour on the hour. I’ve been 4 times and last year in August was the first time I had trouble with it. But I am a believer now!

My family went for 2 days in May and didn't have any issues but we spent most of our time at the pool, only a few hours at the beach....so maybe they are moreso there?

Just adding that the bugs were terrible on our most recent August visit. We’ll never visit at that time of year again, but YMMV.

I don't think they are any worse at DVB than they are elsewhere in VB, but I think you will be dealing with them - especially depending on the time of day. Best time to limit exposure/avoid them is late morning and early afternoon.

The only time was attacked was at sunrise/just before standing near the rental shack and on the porch for the "campfire" at night as it rained that night. Otherwise I was good. I agree with the post that late morning and afternoon should be safe.
