Weather is fantastic so far...yes hot, but water is fabulous!! Our chair swap stuff is in great shape, and we even have 2 boogie boards. We are eating at Squid Lips....early bird special at 4p. I'll post the menu for this later, but all meals are 10.99 and come with 2 sides. Later we are going to visit beach shops just south of the resort. I'm on a mission for beachy wind chimes! We saw a 1 bdrm. on first floor...I don't think I'll be able to get the hubby off of the OVIR room balcony. I have lots of pics and info to post at the end of my trip!!!

Glad you're having a good time. Can't remember where, but I've seen wind chimes made with strings of shells. Doesn't sound real pretty, but looks beachy.

I believe a couple of the popular seafood places are, but I have not been to them so I'll let others help with that. However, at the VB resort they have the Green Cabin Room which is a restaurant/bar. It is on the 2nd floor of the Inn and has a large covered outdoor seating area that overlooks the beach and ocean. The also have a variety of live entertainment (usually music) later in the evenings.

thanks Rob, we went to Vero Beach years ago, and loved it, for the life of me I couldn't remember of the lounge overlooked the ocean!

Well - we currently have a trip planned to Disney for 5 nights, Vero for 3 nights and then 2 nights back at Disney. this is scheduled from Sept. 25th thru October 5th.

We are two adults.

We have been to Disney many times, so the time away from Disney is not a big deal. But we got to thinking we have just had two beach vacations. one in Cancun for week last summer and then we just got back from a week in Galveston Texas. (so 7 weeks later we would be at the beach again).

So we are trying to decide if we want to go to Vero or just wait for another vacation.

Looking for recommendations.

If I thought we have good chance of seeing turtles or something different like that I would say we should go. Maybe we should just go for 2 nights. I don't think there are turtle walks when we are there, but I need to try to find out.

Is the resort REALLY Disneyish. That would be another reason to go.....

Are things beside the beach to do in the area. We would probably ride bikes and stuff like that.

What do you guys think?

I just returned Saturday from 5 nights at VB. I will be posting a trip report with pics later today. To answer some of your questions, it is not very Disneyish. Little hints of Disney, hidden Mickey's, but no, it doesn't come at you Disney. There is little around the resort. If you are looking for something to do in the evening, you won't find much. Maybe some bars, but I didn't really see any of those. If you want to find very upscale shopping and dining, you will need to travel into the city of Vero Beach, which is about 20 min away. The resort is in the town of Wabasso, near Sebastian. These towns are nothing like Vero Beach. I love the resort, the town is quiet. No night life,no shopping, very few restaraunts. Look for my trip report later....it will give you a better idea.

Has anyone heard anything further about Ozzies Crab House? I know they had a fire in Jan and was wondering if they are going to rebuild and if so if they have started??? I love eating there when I go to Vero.

We're in a Garden View Inn room (2nd floor #2236). It's a big corner room. So size-wise it is great. View....not so much. My view is of the parking lot and front of the resort. This room is so big though and has lots of windows ? I didn't even know the Inn room had this many windows ? It's a BIG L-shaped room. Anyone know what I'm talking about ?

We'll be there on the 16th, so maybe we'll bump into you We like to hit the Green Cabin room for lunch sometimes, or for music late in the evening. Hope your visit is going well so far!

Only the villas are getting refurbs. The INN rooms aren't.

In regards to the refurbs, are the TV's going to be HD, or just standard flat screen?

We'll be there 8/27 thru 8/30. Tentative plans are for Ocean Grill on the 27th, Sonya's on the 28th ( our anniversary), and somewhere in Vero, maybe Ocean Grill again, on the 29th. We're staying in an OVIR once again.

Last year we made the mistake of not using sunscreen, thinking since we already had a good tan, it wouldn't matter. We learned our lesson, and have packed several tubes for this trip!!

We'll also be reserving an umbrella and chairs once again, and bringing our own boogie boards.
