Vero Beach Adoration & Information Thread 2008

DH and I will be at VB from 8/16/08 - 8/22/08. I've already ordered two chairs for pickup once I get to VB (very similar to what Starbox ordered for the chair swaps this year).

I don't plan to take these chairs home with me. Is anyone here on the DIS interested in using these chairs after 8/22/08?

We just did that on Tuesday of this week! We are heading down Thanksgiving week and had never been. We took the 2 hour drive from my in-laws house to check the place out. They did not allow us access into the pool area or the beach, but we walked all around the resort and the outside; my middle daughter got into a football game on the lawn; the littlest one colored a few pages of Peter Pan; and my MIL sat and enjoyed a beautiful ocean breeze in a rocking chair on the porch of the main building.

We spent about an hour and a half at the resort, then went to Capt. Hiram's for dinner. The kids LOVED it - we saw so many animals from our table - a couple of dolphin, what we thought was a sting ray, some cool birds, and some boater who looked LIKE Animal from the Muppets

We had a really nice visit, and we cannot wait to get there in November!

Sitting here at the Wingate Inn by the Orlando airport. Watching TV. They had a news story about an adult sea turtle at Disney's Vero Beach resort who was tagged and released out to sea today. Anyone there at VB now who saw this ? Very cool.........

We will be there October 19 through October 24 if they are still there. I completely missed out on the other swap. This is our first time, and I really wasn't aware.

Hello all, checked into VB yesterday. Just a fantastic resort. Our airline experience was awful, almost missed our flight due to Airtran's baggage belt breaking. The baggage checkin line took us 1 hour 20 min just to check in the baggage! But we made it. Weather has been fantastic. CM's great. Room great, we're in 2220, two doors down from Green Cabin. My son is getting WIFI in the room. My husband's laptop not so good, so I'm sitting in the hallway outside the room. Any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi Hope Sorry about your flight. We haven't flown since 2001 (no correlation to 9/11 though). Glad you're there and actually getting some Wifi.

In case you don't notice it there is a big glass bowl or vase in the lobby kind under the stairway on a credenza against the wall. It has shells in it with family names and origins and some notes too. It is pretty interesting to see were people are coming from. You all need to leave some shells too.

Ok, will do Rob!! My husband's second home is the inn porch!! He absolutely loves the view and the sound of the waves. It's everything you said it would be. Kennedy Space Center was a bust. So glad we didn't pay for the tickets (thank you Congressman!). All the visitors and their family members seem very well behaved. Tomorrow, total beach time!

I never noticed that - well now we definately have to do that when we are there next June - how fun.

so glad to hear your having a wonderful time !! so what's up with KSC ?? My DH wants to go and I have no interest at all I would rather lounge on the beach

After entering the visitors center, we proceeded to take the KSC bus tour around the complex. All we saw were buildings.....when you get off to tour one of the "buildings" they show you movies about what ever it is the building has to do with NASA. Very, very boring, and I am a science major. They did have a shuttle you could go into to see, but my family wanted to leave after only 1 1/2 hrs. If your into IMAX and informational movies and stuff on little tv's, then I guess you would like it.

That's cool Rob ! Didn't know this......I'll be checking it out next week. We just got back a couple hours ago from Typhoon Lagoon. It was nice until about noon---then got REALLY crowded.

I'm glad I saw this and I hope I'm not too late...I will be at VB from 8/22 to 8/29 and would love to use the chairs and will then be glad to share with whoever is next. PM me if interested. Thanks!

Weather is fantastic so far...yes hot, but water is fabulous!! Our chair swap stuff is in great shape, and we even have 2 boogie boards. We are eating at Squid Lips....early bird special at 4p. I'll post the menu for this later, but all meals are 10.99 and come with 2 sides. Later we are going to visit beach shops just south of the resort. I'm on a mission for beachy wind chimes! We saw a 1 bdrm. on first floor...I don't think I'll be able to get the hubby off of the OVIR room balcony. I have lots of pics and info to post at the end of my trip!!!

I've been hoping to hear back also, but they haven't posted since.. this would be perfect because we arrive on the 3rd and could be the next swap after you
