Does anyone know if certain times of the year at VB are worse or not for jelly fish /man o war ? Just curious.

I hesitate at providing this info, but late May to early June (in SE Fla), but it really depends on the winds. If the winds push in from the SE then the jellyfish & MOW get pushed ashore. :worried: I don't like em.

I don't much care for them either

Thanks for the info........

Not really familiar with the whole jellyfish thing. How cautious should I be? Do we go in even or just hang out and build sandcastles? I can say that I will absolutely not be going in anyway (just the little guppies at the tip of the ocean freak me out! :rotfl2:). But I'm more thinking about my carefree DH and my fearless girls. Any advise would be appreciated.

Just be aware of them if you're in the water.....and avoid them. I actually snorkeled with them (not by choice)in the VI and Bahamas. They don't attack ----but if you run into them, they'll sting you. If the water is clear, you should be able to see them.....if it's cloudy, I'd be on the lookout.

Mia is right. Just be aware. In 8 years or so I have only been stung once, and as I have said before it only felt a thousand bee stings..... Just kidding:rotfl: it really wasn't bad. I pretty much walked on water for a few seconds though. :tiptoe:

Don't stay out of the ocean because of it... that would be like saying don't go outdoors because you might get stung by a bee. Truly

Heading to VB for the first time around July 4th. Can anyone tell me about the Character Dining? When and where? Which characters typically? How much per person? Is it typically very popular?

I think I saw it is at Shutters and only on Saturday morning. I'm sure it is not a huge experience like some of the one's at WDW, but for our family of five, with the youngest being 11 (DS11 is the only one who hasn't experienced one before), it might be enough and we won't have to try and fight the crowds when we get to WDW the next week.

Hi marvali !
You are right...it is Sat mornings. I'm pretty sure it is Goofy, nephew Max and I think Donald too. I would suggest ADR's. I'm not sure on the price. But if it's anything similar to the WDW character breakfasts, you're looking at approx $18.99/adult and $10.99/child----but this would be if it was a buffet. I'm not sure it is. Maybe someone who has been there recently can comment.

madcoco, thanks for the latest beautiful pictures! I just sent in the "Turtle naming information" to the Caribbean Conservation group for our group who are going on the night turtle walk on June 23rd. Our VB trip is getting closer and I'm so ready to be there!

We were just there 5/24. The characters were just Donald and Goofy. Breakfast was pre-plated all you can eat. It had eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes and rolls. I believe it came with Juice, too. Price was somewhere in the $15 - $20 range. I would definitely get ADRs. We had one and still had to wait about 10 - 15 minutes. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the input. Will definitely go with ADRs if we decide to do this one. Not a lot of characters, but I am guessing it is still fun for everyone.

Do you do ADRs through VB on this one or still Disney Dining....guess I never thought of needing these for here to.

Hi LoveMyDisneyCats.....
I'm thinking through wdw dining ---also, just so you know, you can use your DDE discount card, if u have one, at VB (Green Cabin Room, Shutters and Sonya (except Sunday brunch).

jknepfle says : We were just there 5/24. The characters were just Donald and Goofy.

Oh darn....no Max ? He was unique in that no other character meal in wdw had him.
Thanks for the info on the breakfast :thumbsup2

I was wondering if anyone could suggest any requests I should make for our Garden view room ? A certain floor ? Room ? View ? Any views better or worse than others ? Also.....are there ground floor Inn rooms ? We're coming up on 60 days away from checking in.
Thanks !

I would suggest the 2nd floor. This allows you to use the lobby stairway in lieu of the elevator. OR you might want the 4th floor since the laundry room is on the 4th floor. I'll get some front view shots from the laundry room balcony for you when I'm there IN TWO WEEKS!!

Thank you Rob for the suggestions and I would LOVE to see the photos if u get a chance. Have a wonderful stay in 2 weeks !

Oh....PS.....do the garden view rooms only face the front of the resort ? Or are there some on the sides ? I'm just wondering if views are of road ? Parking lots ? Thanks

I'm not positive, but I believe someone recently posted a pic of their GVIR corner room. It overlooked the parking area where the entrance to the underground garage is located. I will ad this question to my fact finding list.

I called DVC Member services.

Nope, no Max! At least...not that we saw!

Hey Keli, That is a good question and I hadn't considered that when recommending the second floor. Here is a 2nd floor view photo probably from 2002 or 2003. You can't see the beach, however, all of that tall vegetation was wiped away with the hurricanes. I don't know what the view is now. I will add this to my list to get photos of this view also in a couple weeks.

Yes, they do have refillable mugs. They have a self serve station next to the bar & grill by the pool. This works well at VB because the ocean is a one minute walk to and from the station. Unfortunately, VB has the same generic mug as the other resorts. Sure wish they would go back to having signature mugs. I would pay a few bucks more to have a resort name and year on it. You can only keep so many of these generic mugs before they become a storage space burden.

PS.. Keep trying. It takes some people many many attempts. I had quit back in 83 until 87 (when my DD fell from a 2nd story window and was in CCU for 5 days). I continued smoking since and have been trying multiple times for 2-3 years (never getting past a week). And now... I have beaten it for good.
