ARGH! Ok, this is a pure and simple vent, because I can't actually yell at the people that need yelling at.
So, we bought a house with a closing date of March 30 (tomorrow). We never had any indication that our mortgage shouldn't go through on time, and have been in constant communication with our agent, the title and escrow person, and our contact at the mortgage company. As of last week, everything was going through perfectly. The mortgage company said they needed proof of insurance by Thursday, DH sent it on Tuesday, the contact person acknowledged receipt and said that the documents would be going to the escrow company.
We should have heard from the escrow company on Friday to schedule a signing on Monday. Didn't happen. Our real estate agent chased them up on Saturday and they said they hadn't gotten the mortgage documents yet, but should have them Monday morning. It's is now 4:00 PST on Monday and the mortgage company still hasn't even SENT the mortgage documents.
If the mortgage company KNEW we were closing on Tuesday, why would they still be working on the documents at end of business hours on MONDAY!!!???
I wouldn't be so annoyed if I hadn't have taken this week off of work so that I could attend the escrow signing today, get the keys tomorrow, and begin to move into the house (U-Haul is scheduled for Saturday) and preparing the house for our stuff. I have Comcast and a furniture delivery coming on Thursday. I need to paint the laundry room (grass green - I've always wanted a grass green laundry room!) before the washer/dryer are delivered and installed on Friday. And I have blinds to install before we move in on Saturday, so I don't accidentally flash the neighbors while changing.
And what am I doing today? And tomorrow and possibly for the rest of the week? Sitting on the couch and watching daytime court TV, amongst my sea of boxes and wrapped furniture.
*sigh* Ok, so it could be worse, but I'm just so frustrated. Is this normal for closing to be pushed back due to essentially incompetence? Did I make a mistake by assuming that closing would be on time, and taking the time off of work? What do I do in an apartment full of boxes, with no car (DH is taking it to work so that he can run to the bank to get the cashier's check for the down payment as soon as we hear that we can), and in the pouring rain?
