Vent: bedding - what's what

We here in Montana must be uneducated hicks.

But then, we knew that.

I do not know one single, solitary person who owns a bedspread (or any other piece of bed covering) for the sole purpose of looking at it during the day then tossing it on the floor at night. If there is a bedspread on our bed, we sleep under it.

Only thing that gets tossed on the floor at night is superfluous decorative pillows, random cats, and snoring spouses. :upsidedow

THIS--right here--what I am typing now is my FIRST post on this thread:confused3 I know i have never complained that housekeeping (or mousekeeping--Disney is not the only place I stay though) does not change the top bedding (by whatever name) daily or even between guests. As long as the part which primarily touches me gets changed I don't think twice about it. I also don't think twice about what to call it OR sleeping under it if I am cold. If they do not want me to sleep under it they had better not put it on the bed.
So anyway, having not posted previously in this thread OR complained about top beding not being changed I fail to understand WHY you are calling me out there?:confused3
Oh, heck, I wasn't calling out you (or C.Ann). I was apologizing to you!

I agree with you - as long as any bedding that touches my body is changed between Guests, I'm fine. Nobody EVER complains about hotel bedding on the Community Board; I just didn't want to start a controversy where this topic belonged... on the Resorts Board :rotfl:

But how could you be agreeing with me when I had not posted on this thread? I don't recall EVER posting about bedding before (or on the resort board:confused3) which is why I am utterly confused:confused::rotfl:

Top sheets? I don't think I could buy one here in Germany if I wanted one:lmao: You certainly will not find one on the bed at any hotel that is not an American chain;) or at my house. OP--maybe you could use a more global perscpective on bedding;):rotfl:

I have a question then... what is touching you as you sleep? do you use a blanket that you wash regularly? I can't imagine not washing on a regular basis the flat sheet under me and the top sheet over me.

The duvet cover. You wash the fitted sheet and the duvet cover in much the same way that in the USA you wash the fitted sheet and the top sheet. Just a different style of bedding.

Indeed - and it generates LESS washing than having to wash something thick/warm regularly. Quilts/duvets get cleaned every few months - most people own a couple of different thicknesses (i.e. I have a summer one, a spring/autumn one and these both clip together to make a winter one). Duvet covers and fitted sheets get changed as regularly as you wish.

Hey - if you want to call me out or not - over proper names for bedding - I'm good with that..:rotfl::rotfl:

I wouldn't really care if she called me out, signaled me out, apologized, agreed, whatever it is just confusing me to no end since i had not even posted at all:lmao: I even went back and read thinkg "hmm did I totally forget that i had read this and posted on it?" but no I am (thankfully) apparently ever so slightly saner than that as of yet (sanity is sliding away from me fast though:lmao:)

You posted in your sleep. It is a magic post that is invisible on your computer (and doesn't leave any tell-tale planks in the posts you do see). :rotfl:

I have always used a top sheet with everything - blanket, comforter, duvet, bedspread. I like the feel of a thin cotton sheet between me and anything heavier.

Me too!! We use a coverlet in the summer (sometimes get cold feet!) and a comforter in the winter. They comforter usually goes over the coverlet and that is used as an extra blanket.

Oh, that. I'm psychic ;). Sorry about that - I was apparently addressing someone else as intelligent as you with a similar posting style :teeth:

My cats don't care what you call it.....as long as they can lay on it :teeth:
DItto! my cats hate when theres too many blankets on the bed and I get hot, since they all get balled up in the corner (there sleeping space)

ITA, minus the spose and decoritive pillows since mine just live on the floor anyways

My European mother adopted the use of a top sheet when she got to the US, not just because it was the norm, but because she REALLY hated the hassle of wrestling the duvet in and out of the cover for washing. If you have a larger bed, maneuvering it in flat can be a hassle. I agree with Mom; I keep the top sheet and only change the duvet cover when it is visibly dirty or if I want to change out the color scheme of the room.

The one thing that I can't do is sleep without a top sheet.. I'm always too warm when I sleep and the top sheet feels cooler against my skin..:goodvibes

There's a trick for this, it's really easy. You have your duvet cover inside-out, put your hands inside it to the far corners. Then you grab the corners of the duvet and hold it up - it falls right in. I'm pretty small and I managed it on a large bed by myself without a problem. It takes under a minute :thumbsup2
