Vegas hotel suggestion

Thnaks for the suggestion Jeafl. Unfortunately, all I can find about that place online is its French cuisine,which I dont really care for. Being the picky eater that I am I need to find a menu before I choose a restaurant. Ill keep looking though, I have plenty of time.

I have to agree with Jeafl, that there are MUCH more superior restaurants in Las Vegas than the one in the Stratophere. You're pretty high up there, and since the support is thin, the restaurant is known to sway (if there is even a slight wind), as well as rotate. Which can cause some diners to become sick. The best restaurant I've eaten at in Las Vegas is Prime. It's the steakhouse in the Bellagio, and it is a beautiful space as well. Since it's a steakhouse run by a french chef, the food goes from very plain, to some more adventerous dishes. The caesar slad there is to die for, as is the butternut squash soup. You can also get a view of the Bellagio fountains from this restaurant, making this a complete romantic night. Delmonico's at the Venetian is also a great place for the non-adventurous eater, but since it's located in the hotel and not in the Grand Canal shops, isn't as romantic as it could be. It's decor is more "steakhouse" than romantic restaurant (Like Prime) but the food is wonderful there as well.

We really like Paris, the rooms are clean and pretty. It is centrally located and has great shopping.

I would try the Venetian we stayed there a few years ago. It is an all suite hotel and the rooms are huge. We were fortunate to get up graded to a high roller suite for our stay!!!!(4 toilets, 2 jacuzzies, 2 jet showers a steam room and our own sauna!) I loved the hotel as it was so eligant, but saying that I love Italian things. We also stayed at New York New York which I also enjoyed. Next time we go we plan to stay at Bellagios (although after our room at the Venetian I'm afraid we might be dissapointed with it!)

Loved Loved Loved staying at Paris. Upon check-on ask for a "P" room. These are the rooms at the very end of each of the four hallways. Due to there location they are almost 2 times the size of the other rooms. There are windows on 2 sides of the rooms and the bathroom was enormous with a separate tub and shower. There is usually no charge for this upgrade if the "P" rooms face the back of the hotel. There may be a slight charge ($10 per night) for rooms that face the strip, but well worth it. Our room looked out on the Bellagio fountains, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe at the hotels' entrance.

I also like Paris' location at mid-strip. Bellagio, Ceasar's, Alladin/Planet Hollywood are all very close and either end of the strip and out to the Rio and Palms are just short cab rides away.

If you want a big indulgence and you are in Vegas on a Sunday then eat at the buffet at Bally's. They only have it on Sunday and it is $50 per person but includes all the champagne you want (Perrier Jouet when we were there), lobster, crab, prime rib, saffron rice, fish...you name it they have it. Best $130 we ever spent on a meal!!

jel0511, I forgot about Prime! It was wonderful! Also Olives at Bellagio has very good food and overlooks the fountains as well. Olives has a more Italian/Mediteranean style cuisine. I had the butternut squash ravioli with browned butter sauce which was excellent if you like squash. DH had some kind of pasta dish that was also good.

I have to say though, one of my all-time favorite restaurants in all of Vegas is the Grand Luxe Cafe at the Venetian. It's not elegant, but it's very nice. The food is excellent and most entrees are between $7-$10. We ate there for lunch a couple of times and I highly recommend it.

We've stayed in Vegas several times with our last time being in February of this year (had to get my Tom Jones fix) and we've stayed in Caesars, NY NY, Bellagio, Monte Carlo, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and Bally's. Our favorites were NY NY, Bellagio and we liked the $$$ for the Monte Carlo we got in Feb. Under 100 per night for a weekend which is awesome! I would try to stay somewhere mid strip as getting around is hard and the distance between hotels is outrageous to walk it unless you are a seasoned power walker!! I have heard that the new monorail is supposed to open down there soon if not already so that may help! I didnt like the stratosphere at all...it felt dirty and scummy! The one place kind of off strip that is really nice is the Rio Suites as well!!!

There is a really yummy courtyard restaurant at Caesars that is like a sidewalk cafe that serves pasta. It's really good and tradition for us to go to. The NY NY roller coaster only LOOKS fun until you ride it..really bumpy! Margaritaville is a lot of fun! The Blue Man Group is a riot if you can get tickets to it. We have found the best deals on hotels in Vegas at the hotels website. Our Monte Carlo stay we booked it originally for $149.00 a night on the weekend which was a great deal but I kept looking at the prices and they kept going down so I called the hotel each time and ended up with a room for $79.00 the first night and $89.00 for Saturday night!

I LOVE Vegas (almost a little too close for me at only 5 hours to drive) but I would think the first of November unless a big convention is in town is a great time to go! Whatever you do just dont go in the mid summer...July and August are BRUTAL!

The Statosphere restaurant was "ok"...it is expensive, but it does have a great view as it slowly rotates. Grand Luxe in Venetian had absolutely delicious food, but it is not fancy. Also, downtown at the California there is a restaurant called the Redwood (I think, my mind is not what it used to be)...it was very very good.

A bathroom that is TOO big? There is no such thing!

I love the mandalay bay as the bathrooms are fab (there's a shelf for your beer by the bath - when we redid the bathroom at home I made them make me one based on it). The location can be a bit far down if you don't have a car though - I stayed at TI over Xmas, it's okay - but no baths just a shower. As you can tell the bathrooms make it for me - Aladdin bathrooms are also supposed to be mega but I read a lot of bad things about the noise level so skipped it.
