I love Las Vegas! I would live there if I could. DH and I used to drive there several times a year when we lived in CA. and I miss it. So I'm looking for anything and everything Vegas.

Do you love it? Let's hear it. :)

Do you hate it? Tell me why. :confused3

What have you done there? Shows you've seen? Places you've stayed? Fabulous dining you've tried?

Funny, crazy, wacky, strange, romantic, things that have happened to you there. No, I don't want what happened in Vegas to stay in Vegas! Let's hear it! ;)

If you've never been, WHY? Do you want to and where would you stay?

I need my fix. Yes, I have two addictions. :rolleyes1 Vegas and Disney!

I have never been, but would love to! I would want to stay in one of those honeymoon suites we see here on t.v, the ones with the nice tub, the gawdy decorations, etc.

This post is right up my alley! I'll BE in VEGAS 2 weeks from today!

We are going to the Grand Canyon one day, Horseback riding another day, have tickets to "O" and the Wayne Newton Holiday Show.

We have ressies at "Fix" at the Bellagio and "Mon Ami Gabi" at Paris.

I started getting clothes together today!!

LOVE Vegas!! I've been looking for cheap flights so we could go this fall but it looks like we won't get back until spring. We love the flair bartenders at Kahunaville in TI, the margarita's are great too. We like to go downtown too the laser show is cool. And we have to go to the Silverton for strawberry shortcake. We usually do a day trip to Titus Canyon, Death Valley, Parumph, Rhyolite and Bad Water. We talked about moving there too but DH job is too good here. So we just visit and my dad meets us there since he winters in Arizona.

I've never been, but oh do I know lots of people who've been there! I hear they have great restaurants. :teeth:

Okay I admit it I'm sooo jealous! Have a great time! I want to hear all about it.

We try to go at least once a year, some years more often! We have stayed at the MGM Grand during the remodel in 1996, Excalibur on several occasions cause it's a good location and inexpensive, Stardust, the Paris which was VERY nice, TI, and the Luxor which I do not recommend unless you get a really good rate...

We have seen Mystere 3 times, Blue Man Group 4 times (So much fun!), Tom Jones, the Golden Boys (Bobby Rydell, Fabian, and Frankie Avalon), EFX (with Tommy Tune and again with Rick Springfield), Paul Anka, the dinner show Bada Bing, & Lance Burton...

Liked the original pirate battle with the men at the TI more than the current show with the women/sirens. Miss the theme park at the MGM Grand, but like the improvements to their pool area and the Lion Habitat. Really like all the rides on the Stratosphere but the two newest ones make my palms all clammy ;) just thinking about them!

Now my question for this thread: Slots or Table Games? :confused3

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I went to Vegas for the first time in Sept. Had a blast. We stayed in the Bellagio, ate a Olive in the Bellagio, and Mon AMi Gabi in Paris, both were great. We also ate in a steakhouse downtown. The food was good as were the views, but I despised downtown. I thought it was seedy. We went to see Barry Manilow loved it!, We also went to Caramel in the Bellagio and Pure at Ceasar's. I would definitely go back

I was in Vegas with friends this past summer and suffered in 117 degree heat! We stayed a the Stratosphere and managed to visit the Luxor, Excalibur, Hilton (Star Trek fans..ate at Quorks). We drove out to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam where it was 123 degrees! It was HOT HOT HOT.

Best thing about Vegas for me? All us girls went to see THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER.....waaaaaaaaahooooooooo!

Oh how I  Vegas!!!!

I'm still bummed because I just got free offers for rooms and tournaments from Paris and the Green Valley Ranch for right after we get back from WDW  DH said we could cancel WDW for Vegas and I said "NO WAY!" Oh how I wish I could do both but I think my family likes heat in the winter too much :rotfl2:

I  slots and table games (especially roulette - yes I know the odds are in the house's favor ;) )

I do not like it there, been there 5 times. I do not like the smoke, it is EVERYWHERE. I do not like the porn slappers. I don't like gambling. I don't like the overall idea of the place.

I have been there for two business conventions, one wedding (if my choice, I would not have gone), one 21st birthday trip for my DD, Natalie (if my choice, would not have gone), and one client review with a client who lives there in the suburbs. Stayed at the MGM, before the fire, where Bally's is now, Caesar's, Bally's, The Orleans and Aladdin.

I do appreciate looking at the grandeur of the place, the buildings, shopping, excesses. I have seen the 3 Cirque shows there, -O- twice, Mystere and KA. I have taken a trip to Hoover Dam, pre-9/11, when you could still do tours inside the dam buildings. Best meal I recall was at the Embers, believe it or not, at The Imperial Palace. Also, Battista's Hole in the Wall is a good place, out of the way.

The highlight of a Vegas trip for me is the ride to McCarran to leave and go home. :)

All that said, I would recommend it to almost anyone, for at least one trip, if nothing else than to see the place, nothing like it....and thankfully not.

I love hearing about Vegas! Keep it up. :sunny:

The shows we have seen are:
Carrot Top
Bottoms Up
Mac King Comedy & Magic show
Ronn Lucas
American Superstars
Skintight
Showgirls
X
Jubilee
Splash
Danny Gans
Siegfried and Roy
I think that's all. All I can think of right now anyway.

We have stayed at Luxor, Excalibur, Circus Circus, Terrible's, Tropicana, the Venetian,.... I think that's all. We usually stay at Tropicana. We've stayed there several times because we get deals in the mail.

I just got a thing in the mail for Circus Circus the other day and it made me sad. I want to go back.
BTW, when we go we don't gamble much. Slots only. DH and I have lousy luck so we prefer to spend the money on other things like the buffets and shows! ;)

I hear ya about the smoke especially since DH and I are not smokers. (We're not drinkers either) It does get to you after awhile. The noise of the slot machines does too especially since I'm not the one winning! ;) When it gets to be too much we usually take a drive to Red Rock Canyon or something of that sort. I'm glad to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks.

BTW, how were the Cirque shows? I regret that was one thing we never got to do. Either didn't have the time, the money or there were no good seats. Something always came up and then we moved from CA to MI and are now too far away for a week-end drive. :goodvibes Are they anything like the La Nouba show in DTD? (If you've seen that)

Margaritaville...this is one I'm looking forward to.

Has anyone been to the new Toby Keith restaurant?

I've been to Vegas a few times and I find it just "okay". Two days is about all I could handle. I HATE the smoke! You cannot get away from it! I do enjoy the shopping, the shows and the resorts. We were there a few weeks ago and stayed at the Venetian. I was content to just hang out at the pools or do a little shopping. I could do without the casinos, I never win anyway! I really have no desire to go back anytime soon.

It's funny that I saw this thread because I was just thinking about Las Vegas this morning. I'm looking to go someplace for our anniversary in June. I thought about Vegas but I'm just afraid of the heat out there in the summer. We went in June a couple years ago and we were burnt to a crisp! I love it there though and I keep trying to figure out when we can make our next trip!

Never been, but want to go. DH is afraid to take me...:rolleyes1 I love to gamble and we just don't have the money for a vacation right now.

My dream vacation to Vegas would be to go to the International CES Show in January. Of course I would have to figure out how to get in as it is not open to the general public.

Then I suppose staying at one of the top notch hotels and seeing Barry Manilow.

I love to go to LV....We always have a good time. The last time we went we rented a car and went to Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon and to Mt Charleston (I think that is what it is called)...The mt...is about 30 min out of LV and in April still had snow...It was hard to believe that you can go from desert to snow in a matter of a few minutes.
The smoke is the only thing that I dont like, but most of the newer hotels have great filtration systems. I try to totally ignore the people with the advertisements of ill repute on the sidewalks....The first time we went I took a handful, not knowing what they were...I thought they were offering coupons for restaurants or attractions....I was so embarrased when I opened it up....it went right in the trash can.
I could go at least once a year but Dh says he doesnt care about going there again for awhile....

We went three years ago for my dad's wedding. We stayed at the Monte Carlo and saw EFX with Rick Springfield (Yum yum) and Siegfried and Roy. Both shows were fantastic.

Having said that, we will probably not choose Las Vegas for a vacation, for many of the reasons listed above, especially the smoke and the noise. I think it would be good for two days - just to shop and see all the hotels, which are like museums in themselves. We aren't into gambling or the night life.

I have to say I am glad I am glad I have seen it, just so when I watch CSI, I can say I've been there.

We just got back from 2 nights comped at the new Wynn hotel. Hubby hit a 3500 dollar jackpot on the wynn sevens machine. I also love vegas!!!
The best show I have seen is Elton at Caesars Palace. We usually stay at Caesars but I like the new Wynn alot too. Gotta love vegas.
