Vegas baby!!!

We went three years ago for my dad's wedding. We stayed at the Monte Carlo and saw EFX with Rick Springfield (Yum yum) and Siegfried and Roy. Both shows were fantastic.

Having said that, we will probably not choose Las Vegas for a vacation, for many of the reasons listed above, especially the smoke and the noise. I think it would be good for two days - just to shop and see all the hotels, which are like museums in themselves. We aren't into gambling or the night life.

I have to say I am glad I am glad I have seen it, just so when I watch CSI, I can say I've been there.

My DH always wanted to see the EFX show with Rick Springfield in it but we never got around to it. I am happy we got to see Siegfried and Roy before what happened. So sad.

The longest we have ever stayed there was one week and we did have to break it up with lots of outdoor excursions. I love CSI it gives me my fix. Strangely enough as much as I love Vegas, I hate the NBC Las Vegas show. :confused3

BTW, my cats are named Rio and Luxor after my two favorite hotels. If I can convince DH to get a third (and final) cat we'll call him Caesar after, you guessed it, Caesar's Palace. ;)

Hi! I actually live in Las Vegas! We moved here year go last August from Long Island. it took a little bit of adjusting, but we love it! We are in the Northwest part of the valley. We love our new home. It is newly built and we just moved in this past June. If there is little traffic it takes about 20 minutes to get to the strip.

So far we have seen Danny Gans, Mystere, We will Rock You (closing at end of month), Follies, some concerts and the PBR championships. This weekend we are seeing Penn & Teller and we will be seeing Rita Rudner on the 19th for my DD's birthday.

Las Vegas is not for everyone, but living here is different than being on vacation.

Lucky you!! How old are your kids (or kid)? I'm asking because I have 4 in the ages between 10 and 5 and that's one reason we haven't moved. Not that it's problem for us but the grandparents weren't thrilled with the thought. Although I realize the people that live there are not living on the strip! :goodvibes
Anyways I would love to hear more about it and how you and your family adjusted if you wouldn't mind sharing. You can PM me if you want. Anyways enjoy your sunny :sunny: new home!

I have 2 DDs ages 9 and 12. I too was concerned at first for them but after doing my research we decided to take the plunge. My brother has lived here for a few years as well so that helped. We decided on an area to live based on the schools and the distance from my DH's job. He is a pediatrician and couldn't be more than 20 minutes from the hospital for C-sections.

The girls have adjusted very well. It was a little tough at first, but I think moving anywhere would have been just as hard. My younger DD is involved in dance and my older DD is in the University Children's Chorale at UNLV.

I'm fortunte and have met some very nice people. One good friend is taking my DDs and me to see the Thunderbirds at the Airforce base this Friday. We also go hiking at Mt. Charleston and I am in a book club. If we had stayed in NY I would still have to work. The salaries for pediatricians is better here. I love that I can be involved in my kids school activities.

If you want to know anything else, just ask!

No, I don't want what happened in Vegas to stay in Vegas! Let's hear it!

What happens in Vegas does NOT stay in Vegas! I have a 6 year old daughter that proves that ;)

We like Vegas. Were going next month and were looking forward to it. It isnt our favourite place but it offers thing that no other place on earth does thats for sure!

......BTW, how were the Cirque shows?.......Are they anything like the La Nouba show in DTD? (If you've seen that)
The Cirque shows are wonderful. And like La Nouba (have seen that one either 3 or 4 times), are spectacular and unique, none the same, though unmistakably Cirque. Of the three there, I would say probably -O- was the most unique, in that it has the water stage. If a Cirque show is around, I will see it, LOL.

Ha, that is too funny!! Your going next month huh? Be careful with those souveniors!! Have fun! :sunny: :cool1:

I went when I was 18. It was honestly one of my favorite vacations ever. I just had so much fun! I'm dying to go there again. I was supposed to go in April with my ex-b/f, but well...he's an ex now so that isn't going to be happening. I still want to go though, so maybe I'll take a friend. :)

Go for it! ::yes::
Oh better yet take me! We'll have a blast! I could use a break from the kiddies. :rotfl:

I just got an email from Allegiant Air, if you book one of their packages a second person flies for free. I haven't looked into it past that but I definately am going to. Maybe Vegas is in the near future and hubby is on a roll now with luck. (he won tickets to a hockey game, Bob and Tom comedy concert and $100 on a scratch off). Plus, everytime I go with him he wins enough to cover the trip while I donate it back.

:Pinkbounc bumping this thread up for all who love Vegas and those who are planning trips there (like chager) ;) or wish they were planning trips there (like me)

Lived there for 20 years (grew up there). Was happy to leave. Not a great place to raise a family, but a nice place to visit.
