Veepstakes, McCain edition

If you look at it like that. I believe though that the redistribution of wealth isn't about the money as much as it's about freedom as well.
Again, this is just a matter of degree of importance. Money is not as important as personal liberty. And if you were a member of a small religious minority, you'd know that.

Anyway, can we get back to the Veepstakes?
Anytime you folks would like to stop expressing intolerance for my beliefs, you can do so. :rotfl:

You don't know much about LDS: According to the laws of the LDS, I could never be married in an LDS temple.

BS I don't know anything about LDS, my aunt is LDS and my grandfather had to go and stand outside in the rain while his only daughter got married inside, because he wasn't a memeber, so he couldn't even go into the temple.

So why did did you write what you wrote about ...? :confused3 Whatever, let's let it go.

Money versus freedom? Hmm... I think freedom is more important. You're welcome to disagree. I think freedom and the abilitiy to reap what you sow are synonomous -- I'll agree to disagree

I provided one example, above. As I've offered before, I'll be glad to sit down with someone actually willing to learn about how it is to be a member of a small religious minority in the United States and talk about it. However, it has been very clear that in online forums, some folks use such discussions solely as an opportunity to further express their intolerance, so I am willing to have that discussion only eye-to-eye.

I think I get what you are saying - but if I'm right I think this is more a party platform than something that is limited to McCain/Romney. And, on the example you cited - doesn't Obama share the same belief? Regardless -- this issue is ultimately going to have to be decided by the SCOTUS and not by a member of the executive branch.

Absolutely, by my first point in this thread was that the VP selection will pretty-much set the tone for where McCain is going. Will he appeal to moderates who would be attracted to a McCain Presidency because of who McCain always has been? or will he appeal to reactionaries who would be attracted to a McCain Presidency only if it placated their religious values, something McCain has never been about?

And, on the example you cited - doesn't Obama share the same belief?
Do you really think Obama is going to push an agenda that would impose his beliefs on others, like Romney did in the example I provided earlier?

I didn't think so. :)

You've hit the nail squarely on the head: AFAIC, the most important thing the next President of the United States will do is nominate a couple, perhaps more, Supreme Court Justices.

Because you said he was imposing his religious beliefs on you, his religious beliefs would have you converting to LDS so that you could be married in his church, that's not what he was doing, he was attemping to impose his personal beliefs that there should not be same sex marriage. There is a difference in the two.

Yes but those weren't the religious beliefs I said he was trying to impose. Again, why can't you argue with what I'm actually writing, instead of always resorting to arguing against something I didn't write?

Hoping McCain will choose Romney. I hoped Romney's name would be at the top of the ticket but McCain it is.

I don't think Colin Powell wants to be on anyone's VP short list. Also he's over 70 so I don't think that would be a good choice for McCain.

Okay - I get what you are saying and I understand your position. While this is OT - I can say that, legally, there should be no bar -- but that is another issue for another thread.

And why can't you understand your pojecting religion into a persons personal beliefs? If it was a religious belief would it not be based on his religion? And since his religion is LDS then he would be attempting to say that everyone must be married in his church, then it would have been pressing a religious belief.

Oh brother. Are we really going to stoop down to that level? :sad2:

Post use, they make a pretty good megaphones as well when the kids get out of hand. See, I can be "green" without even really trying. :thumbsup2

Actually that is what scares me the most about an Obama presidency. It will be all about him. Just like Carter. Except he isn't as innocent or as honest.

thank you, she is sexy but I sure wouldnt want her mad at me, yes? shes got that "ill kill you" look in her eyes :rotfl:

That is the precise reason i dont buy into the "what he called her story"!

I'd think she break his legs!
