VEA Shuttle or TGV Train?

So me and my friend arrive at CDG at 8:20am on Friday the 9th September, and we have everything sorted out and booked except our transportation from the airport to Disneyland!

All along we have been thinking the VEA Shuttle would be the best, but I would love to get some first hand opinions on the shuttle vs. the train.

Is it easy to buy tickets and navigate yourself at the station etc? I must say, getting there in 10 minutes compared to an hour is very appealing!

I've also read some not great things about VEA on here.

if you have no young children/buggies/loads of luggage with you, there is no contest - TGV wins :goodvibes.

The VEA is by far the easiest. You just follow the signs and then when you get to the bus stop you can buy a ticket from the machine or buy it from the driver.

Whilst the TGV is a very impressive service but I've never really liked it. It's not particularly cheap and whilst the journey time is very quick (10mins) it can often take as long as the VEA because they're not as frequent.

I always use private shuttles now. The convenience is well worth the extra euros. It actually works out cheaper if there's 4 or more in your group.

RS Transports shared shuttle service might be a good alternative. Similar prices to the TGV but they'll be waiting for you in arrivals and will drop you off at the door of your hotel. Many people on here have reported that they've booked the shared service but have had the taxi to themselves. http://www.rstransports.com/

Have you used the VEA since the coach stopped picking up at each terminal Happy Tappy? I stopped using the VEA when it became a shuttle from each terminal and one pick-up for the actual coach.
The VEA would be my 3rd choice now, TGV is first (I've got the timing down to a fine art from terminal 2b now ;)) then a shared shuttle, and only the VEA if the TGV timings were too long from my flight arrival time (hasn't happened yet). It costs less for me and my DD to take the TGV over both the other options (typically £48 return for the TGV, it would be 62 euros for the VEA).

I haven't, it's a shame if they've made it more complicated.

My problem with the TGV is that I'm a planner, and it's hard to plan!

It's quite expensive to buy a ticket on the day so I'd have to book a ticket in advance. I've then got the bother of trying to guess what time I'd get to the station. I can appreciate why people like it but it's not for me. Too stresfull for the start of a holiday!

It's private shuttles for me nowadays, wouldn't consider another option. When you take into account the waiting for the train and then having to get a bus to your hotel, I believe that the private shuttle is the quickest way to get to the resort.

Thanks for the replies so far guys!

What kind of price difference are we talking between buying TGV tickets in advance and buying them on the day? I know in advance for our times it would be around £30 each for a return for our specific dates.

Sorry Amy I don't know, I always book my TGV tickets at least 10 days in advance, so that the tickets have arrived at my home and are ready to be used before we get to the airport.

I´m thinking about this option too. May I ask which private shuttle service you used ?

Although I cannot comment on the TGV, I have used both the VEA and a private transfer.... The private transfer wins hands down. It is so convenient to be collected at the arrivals gate and dropped to the door of your hotel!

In fact i booked my private transfer yesterday for my trip in January 2012 :cool1:

What put me off the TGV was the changing terminals to get to the TGV and then having to get a bus from MLV to the Sequoia Lodge, or walking through the village with our cases... A private transfer is much more convenient!

Thba - We used RS transports twice and were really happy with them.
A lot of others on here have also used them and been happy with them and also recomend Ezyshuttle as well

THBa - I've used Ezyshuttle once and BS Transports (RS Transports) twice and been happy each time - I would recommend both. There's links to them and other shuttle companies in the Very Useful Info sticky.

Thanks for the info.

Last question: How long will it takes to drive you to DLP ?

Thank you !

Thats faster than the RER. :scared1:

I guess my decision is made.

Hi there,

Depending on traffic, from CDG airport, 45mn to 1 hour by VEA is an average.

Might be a little bit less with a private transfer company and/or a cab as they might not have to stop at all terminals or other hotels.

If our flight lands at Terminal 2b at 17.35 what time should I look at for the TGV?
