VDH Opening

Ok this is a dumb question but what is the whole "declared" thing really mean in terms of bookings? If VDH declares 50% does that mean 50%of rooms are available on points and whatever is not declared sits empty?

There is no question you can ask that everyone else has not also asked at some point.

DVC can rent out undeclared rooms for cash stays.

I feel like the honeymoon phase of recreationally looking for DVC availability has passed for me
... But actually maybe it's just that I am always in borrow debt 🤣
I’m still in the honeymoon phase because I’ve only been a member since September and am actually just about to use points for the first time. Originally we had Grand Floridian booked for December too, then I saw 7 month availability pop up at Poly for October instead and decided to grab it because we love Halloween at the parks and I think Disney has us so engrained in the thrill of the chase 😂 whether it be dining reservations, lightening lanes, if it feels difficult to get, I want it 😂 we have a reservation in January and I’m like “do I try to switch at 7 months?” 😂 I’m sure this will pass and I’ll get to a point where I can just make my reservations and leave them alone.

Declared means they are now part of the condo association and available for points based bookings.

Until they are declared, the rooms belong to DVD to do with them whatever they want, which is selling them to cash guests.

Still crickets on points chart. SMH

I'm sure this analysis has been said a lot but here is me adding some hope to the pile v4242.42

The "bonus" with the delay is that with each passing day it seems less likely that the economy is going to turn in Disney's favor. They have multiple resorts on offer for direct sales, VDH launching soon, and Poly2 on the horizon.

The 2nd price hike pre VDH looks like its MIA and I'm starting to feel like my long ago prediction of 300 points in the high 170s low 180s might come true (with discounts). If the price for 200 to 300 points is north of 200 bucks... I'll just buy more CCV points at 150 ish and walk away from the VDH dream...

I would expect 300 points to be under $200 pp.

Also, folks on this thread are not great at patience! LOL. Disney wants to sell their points and will open sales as soon as they can. They're not torturing anyone intentionally 🤣

Disney will sell when Disney is ready to sell.

The recent VGF2 rooms were likely one of the simplest sales start-ups DVC ever had, given that they were rolled into an existing condo association. Still, DVC launched sales 110 days before the rooms themselves were open to guests.

VDH is still 170 days away from opening. They could announce details tomorrow...or it may not happen until June and still remain on a similar timeline. They money will be there when Disney is ready to take it.

Lol yeah zero patience here! I own it :)

The resale opportunities being what they are has made it worse. I want to hold out for VDH info to make an informed decision on our best move for resale within our limitations. Hubby wants to get moving though so we don't miss ROFR's nap time.

Well 300 points won’t go too far towards a Grand Villa. @NVDISFamily is a high roller. :)

Guilty. It’s the main reason I’d want points at VDH. Plan ahead and bank and borrow. Likely for special family events. The 2BR look great but I’d rather be at VGC for the most part.

300 points for CA.?? (you can only get a 5 day ticket. lol)

Magic Key…? Also longer stays allow for more flexibility in how you attack the parks. Take breaks and relax and hit the pool or spa. Makes it so much better when you end your trip relaxed and not tired.
