VDH Opening

That's still gonna be a pretty long walk even if Disneyland Forward happens though. But maybe they will build some good attractions just north or south of the DLH that would be worth taking a quick hop over for.
I know it’s just picture for now but in that photo just right outside of Disneyland Hotel to the right is Disneyland and to the right California Adventure. It would be pretty amazing it they built this.

And I’m so tired of people talking about how great VGC is in the VDH thread. I sure don’t think it’s worth $300/pp but was hoping to grab some if it dropped to less than $200/pp. VDH makes sense to a lot of us. Be happy for us.

Theme park would literally be right outside your VDH window if the expansion happens as envisioned so I’m not sure where the long walk would be. Boom - in the park. Unless they had attractions right there and made you walk all the way to the esplanade to enter the park which which would seem like cruel and unusual punishment when they have 3 entrances to DCA.
Long ways and lots of hoops.. But for the next park disney is proposing, the DL Hotel is in the middle of the park
yup no long walks needed. We can dream :)

Just wondering, how long is the walk from VDH to the entrance of DL and/or the monorail station?

Can't be real, why would anyone pay $320.!? lol

That math doesn't work for ANYONE. lol
Why would anyone pay $90pp more for resale restrictions.?
Because sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants. When I bought my VGC for $220pp a few years back, people were telling me I was nuts. I could have bought direct for so much cheaper. But I pulled the trigger anyway and was all the more happy for it. Value is in the eye of the beholder they say.
I was mistaken, i thought they were saying a resale contract for VDH was $320.

Disney is ramping up the "Disneyland Forward Community Coffee" events, per the May 4th OC Register (in the subscriber version only, unfortunately).

Here is a paraphrased excerpt:

The DisneylandForward Community Coffee events take place at public parks throughout the city of Anaheim.

  • May 20, Ponderosa Park, 2100 S. Haster St.
  • June 3, Walnut Grove Park, 905 S. Anaheim Blvd.
  • June 10, Boysen Park, 951 S. State College Blvd.
  • June 24, Stoddard Park, 1901 S. Ninth St.
  • July 22, Chaparral Park, 1770 W Broadway
  • Aug. 12, Juarez Park, 841 S. Sunkist St.
Each of the DisneylandForward Community Coffees run from 9-11 a.m. and offer opportunities to find out more about the plans and ask questions.

Upcoming DisneylandForward Community Events this summer:

  • June 23, Family & Cultural Show, Pearson Park, 400 N. Harbor Blvd.
  • July 13, Summer Concert, Ronald Reagan Park, 945 S. Weir Canyon Rd.
  • Aug. 10, Summer Concert, Maxwell Park, 2655 W. Orange Ave.
Times have not yet been set for the summer community events.
Looks like they are hitting it hard now.

I'll say, most of those locations are reasonably close to the resort district, but several, like Boysen and Juarez are a bit further away, and Ronald Reagan Park is about as far away from Disneyland as you can be and still be in Anaheim in what is referred to as "Anaheim Hills" (and WELL out of any economic/traffic congestion/crime concerns). They are definitely looking to get ALL of Anaheim on board

Same here...it's coming off elitist a bit at this point. It's like Kanye taking the mic from Taylor Swift. "I'm going to let you finish, but VGC is the best resort of all time!”

VDH makes a lot of sense to us for the number of times we go a year. Honestly... VGC doesn't make sense (especially at $300+ a point!) as we'd never be able to acquire enough points in the same use year for the amount of times and length of times we visit DLR. Hey, I'm happy for you! Welcome home!

Not to mention, having direct points at VDH seems like mostly a guarantee that you can get a studio at 11 months. I know some VGC owners that have had some difficulty getting a room at 11 months. The assurances of VDH direct are almost priceless for me. Also, if you don't have direct already and Aulani isn't really an option, VDH is a great option. I don't mind reasonable comparisons, but I don't see the lack of VGC points availability for purchase being discussed much.

I remember our guide mention ~59% of studios are preferred category.
So a ~40% chance of a standard view at the 11 month mark. Don't totally hate those odds. As east coasters, we usually go in September or October for Halloween and USC football (Fight on! ✌️). We usually do 3 or 4 days in DL and 3 days off site. So if I could get a 4 night standard view studio every year, we'd be made in the shade.

Perhaps starting a VDH Owners thread on the DVC resorts thread would be helpful…🤷🏼‍♀️ As this is the purchasing thread, discussions of pros/cons of both DLR DVC resorts will undoubtedly continue. Potential VDH purchasers/past considerers also have a right to discuss disappointments (ToT, high dues, design, etc.). I’m certain a dedicated owners’ thread would be more celebratory! I love how mrsap set up the CCV and VGF threads if anyone needs ideas. 🤩

Pretty sure VDH owners are all in here because we’re all trying to get as much info as we can, seeing how the resort isn’t even open yet and we all purchased blindly. If people are discussing TOT, dues etc that’s totally fine, but several posts now are like “I’m biased but VGC is the best.” Not sure how that’s helpful to this thread. I’m sure once the resort opens my fellow new neighbors and I can have a resort thread to discuss non purchase stuff.

I’m tempted to attend some of these and be like “the city of Anaheim would really like to see Disneyland Hotel have its own entrance to both parks.” 🤣
