I wouldn't do it just because you won't be protected by the vaccine the next day. It takes a few weeks to become immune. In keeping with covid discussion must stay on track pertaining to travel, I am planning a J&J vaccine this Thursday. I have auto travel plans the next late morning. Is this foolish?
I know several folks my age who got this vax and had no reaction at all.
I'm hoping I can still do my travel plans, even if I'm a bit fatigued but I'm curious what others think. I'm 60, healthy, strong and rarely sick. I have a strong immune system and recover quickly.

Is the drive with your parents very far? I don't know anyone who was so unwell from the vaccine that they couldn't drive short drive or deal with small outings, the people who lay low do so for comfort not necessity sort of like a hangover and that was the mRNA. People I know who got J&J were uneventful.I can't get it today because I have to take my 90 yr old parents to the doctor tomorrow and it can't be changed. Ugh.
If it were me I'd wait at least 24 - 48 hours before traveling just in case of a reaction. Would suck to be on the road when they hit.
I had coworkers who had to be fairly close to a toilet (or bucket) for about 24 hours after their vaccine. I wouldn't chance it, myself.I've been on a trip where I got sick, so I'm not all that concerned. I didn't have the J&J vaccine, but the usual typical symptoms aren't usually enough that anyone can't function if they have to.

But it’s not fun on a plane when you can’t always leave your seat. DH was so sick at a soccer tournament the day after his second shot that he just laid down flat on his back and then crashed at the hotel, he felt like he couldn’t move.I've been like that on vacation, so I figure it's not all that unusual.
