DH said that he talked to someone that just went on their first DCL cruise and rebooked as soon as they got home. I'd like to be prepared in case we decide to rebook while onboard. Are there any "value" seasons? I'd like to be able to plan something around a break during the school year and would like to take a look at the calendar so I'm ready to go.

The cheapest times of year are generally Sept., Oct. Nov. (hurricane season), parts of Dec., January and early Feb. But there can be pretty significant week to week differences even during these times. The cruises generally follow the pattern of the disney resorts as far as peak seasons. i.e., anytime school is not in session or there's a holiday, it will cost more (summer, chrsitmas, easter, etc.)

My suggestion is to go to the DCL site and put in some dates and play around with dates and categories to get a feel for what't out there at the time you want to go (dates are currently avail. until April '05). You can get quotes on DCL's site without having to go through the payment process. HTH

Ohhhh...I feel so much better now! I thought I was the only one who was already thinking about planning our next cruise before even getting on the ship for our FIRST cruise! LOL!! I'm thinking of Thanksgiving week 2005, I need to check DCL again, though, because last week they didn't have any dates available on the website.

Me too, we cruise in 7 days, I'm already planning 2/2006.

Will probably book onboard, but those dates probably aren't available yet.

Do I lose any incentive or credit if I change my sail date when they become available?

I hope this might help. I'm a DVC Member and in looking in my DVC book these dates are listed as Value Season for Eastern Sailings in 2004: Jan 10 & 24; Feb 7; Apr 17; May 1 & 15; Aug 21; Sep 4 & 18; Oct 2, 16 & 30; Nov 13 & 27; Dec 11.

Value Season for Western Sailings in 2004: Jan 3, 17, & 31; Apr 24; May 8; Aug 28; Sep 11 & 25; Oct 9 & 23; Nov 6; Dec 4.

Sorry, I don't have the dates for 2005, but I thought the above dates might help you to determine the value season dates.

We just re-booked on board while on the 1/24 Eastern Magic. They gave us 10% off the posted price (we booked 2-05 Western) and $200 per stateroom.

For 4 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 kids, Cat 9, 2 staterooms, it netted out to $5800 for the week with no air. They also said once back home we could transfer this reservation to a travel agent for further savings. I checked www.allseastravel.com (I think that was the site) and we had saved about $500 by booking on board.

What is better that the $ savings is I did not have the depression of coming home from the cruise as I knew I was going back!!

The dates they are booking out are only till May 2005.....rumors about the Magic going out West for a while to celebrate Disneyland's 50th. They told us the plans would be announced in March.

If you transfer your reservation to a travel agent, do you still keep the $200 onboard credit??

I haven't figured that out yet, but the DCL Rep said yes. I am waiting for my paperwork to come to see if it is wort it to switch the reservation over to someone.

we switched it t deams unlimited and kept the shipboard credit...
