during these economically challenging times. We learned a really valuable lesson in life. My DH and I made very good money a few years ago when the economy was booming.. I worked in the housing industry and he worked in the automotive industry, both had our jobs almost 20 years so we built a new home, bought a new car, and DVC. Things were good. Then the economy took a turn for the worst. I lost my job, but found another one within a few months for half of what I was making, so my husband took a couple extra shifts here (part time job) and there to make ends meet. Then it happened. My DH lost his job. Mind you both companies we worked for up and closed.
Now, he has taken his part time job to full time for which we are very thankful. But now we are both making only half of what we did and our monthly expenses have not changed. So things are extremely tight. We paid off our CC's thankfully and have not had to touch any of our 401k's so we should be okay. But it has taught us a few things:
1) We are a solid team.
2) Nothing in Life is guaranteed.
3) Never to buy anything we cannot pay cash for!
Just thought I would share this because we learned the hard way what alot of you already know. I just wish that someone else can learn from our experience and listen to you guys.
Thanks again for listening. You guys rock!
