Val's Journal (comments welcome)

 I hope you feel better soon. I also hope things work out financially for you. What about having people prepay a month at a time or two weeks at a time? I have to prepay my tuition every month and have never given it a second thought. Just a suggestion. Take care.

Hi Val,

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!::yes:: Please let me know if you have any eBay questions I can answer for you. I will do my best to help!::yes::

Take care!

:wave2: Hi everyone!

We had a busy three day weekend around here ::yes:: . My birthday was on Saturday and we ended up in the ER with DS. He was complaining of ear pain and the on-call dr. said to bring him in and she would see him as a normal visit. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get billed for an ER visit.

I have been pretty OP since my last post. Yesterday I bought some new jeans and I was able to get them a size smaller :Pinkbounc :bounce: ! That really made my day.

I have a meeting here tonight so while DS is at school I need to make a dessert and plan a program on sign language.

I hope to make it to journals tomorrow  .

Smaller size for the jeans??!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!
:cheer2: :jumping1: :cheer2:

That is great Val! And I hope DS is feeling better! :earsboy:

I bet if you "casually" mention to a few of your "deadbeat" parents that you are thinking of getting out of the childcare field because the income is not steady enough, they may just *suddenly* remember to pay on time!! As a working mom, I know how difficult it is to find good, reliable care at a decent price. Maybe you could give a few of them a wake-up call?? I always paid ahead for my DS (to an at-home grandma who watched him). I was SO surprised when she told me others didn't pay or paid late......guess it is a common problem, huh?

Hope you get lots accomplished today!!

Belated :cake: :bday: Val,

I'm sorry it was spent in the ER. I hope that DS is feeling better. Congrats on getting a smaller pair of jeans. That is awesome. Keep up the great work. I hope the program went well.

:wave2: Hi all,
Sorry I didn't get to journals earlier in the week. I'm still not feeling 100 % and I have been passing out at 9:00 when DS goes to bed :o !

Thanks to all for your suggestions on getting the parents to pay me promptly. Unfortunately, I think I have tried them all ::yes:: . Paying in advance is tough because the hours vary week to week and change too much. I have dropped less than subtle hints as well and that only gets me so far  .

DH and I had a serious heart to heart last night about things and step 1 is to get me driving again. Once that is established and once DS is in kindergarten, I am going to start looking for a part time job. We'll make it work with Dh's sleep schedule and Ds's school schedule. As far as another child goes, we are going to wait a year and probably start trying then. We'll just have to wait and see whether I keep the job or not if that happens. But, either way this is our plan. I am hoping babysitting and Ebay will get us through until next year when DS starts kindergarten. Speaking of which, Tracy please be expecting a PM from me in the next couple of days re: Ebay  .

That's all for now. I'll try to get to some more journals tonight (if I can manage to keep my eyes open).

Val, it sounds like you need sleep more than journals at the moment! We all know you care about us and you'll get around to journals when the time is right. Please put rest before journals, OK? I'll turn off my Mom-mode now! :teeth:

I do hope eBay can help you over the hump financially. Finances seem to be a big issue for so many people right now. Also, money (or lack of it) can really put a strain on your marriage. It's good that you and DH are talking about what will work best for your family! ::yes::

I hope you and DS are feeling all better soon! :sunny:

Hi there. Congrats on the smaller size clothes, that is great.

If you have your parents pay in advance at least you have the $ right away. Then if they paid too much one month they can receive a credit the next. Every school/daycare center I know does this so maybe it is worth a try. It just bewilders me that people can accept services and then pay for it. The same thing happens to my hairdresser and now she has started that these people have to pay before she starts cutting their hair. Isn't that sad? I don't blame her though. Now she only accepts cash from them too as they were giving her checks and telling her not to cash them for days to weeks. Very inconsiderate. Good luck in your decisions. :D

Hi Val - that's great a smaller size, Congratulations! I hope things work out for you financially! Things have a way of working out!

Wanted to wish you a great weekend! Hope you are feeling better.

Jodi

Hi val,

I'm glad you're feeling better. Just keep getting lots of rest ok. You need to be 100%. I hope ebay can get you through the shortterm. Are you practicing driving today? Have a good one.
Beth

Hi Val! I hope you are feeling better! What a beautiful Monday it is! I hope you get to go outside and enjoy it.

Best of luck with the ebay! It sure works for a lot of people, so I think you should be able to make some money on it as well. My DH and I have done alot on there as well, so feel free to ask any questions you have!:smooth:

:grouphug: Thanks all for checking in on me!

I wish I could say I am feeling better but I'm not (I'm sure you are all sick of hearing me whine about it). This weekend was mostly spent sleeping in bed. I had mono about 7 years ago and that is how I have felt. My glands in my neck of very swollen and I have a low grade temp and zero energy for anything. However, I do feel better today then I did on Saturday so hopefully I have turned a corner and am getting better.

Tracy,
I am sooooo ready for vacation. Our paper countdown chain is looking very short indeed :sunny: !

Thanks for the offers to help with the Ebay Tracy and Sharon. I just haven't had the energy to look further into it lately.

Getting out in the sunshine sounds like a good plan so I'm gonna go grab a shower and then head to the back yard with DS for awhile.

I'll try to get to journals later today :sunny: !

Val, hope all is well in your corner of the world!

I learned to drive at age 24 - my eyes were not good enough before then. I was already married & my husband taught me to drive. It's amazing that our marriage survived! :teeth: He finally called my Dad to come take me out driving! :p I did pass my test on the first try and even though I only drive locally and only during the daylight hours, it really helps a lot! You'll be able to learn too! Just take it very slowly. Nothing wrong with going around the block or a mall parking lot early on Sunday morning for a while! Baby steps, Val!

Take care and have a wonderful Monday! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Hi Val,

The cold that is going around seems to last forever. Just keep getting plenty of rest and fluids. I hope you feel better doon. The sunshine sounds like good medicine too. We haven't seen it in days.

Feel better,
Beth

Hi Val,

How are you feeling today? I hope you got lots of rest last night.

Take care,
Beth

Hey Val! I hope today finds you feeling a little bit better (if not a lot better! ) The rain isn't so nice, but maybe you got some extra rest??? Make sure you take good care of yourself!

:wave2: Hi everyone,
I am feeling a lot better health wise today but I am exhausted since I was up with DS from 1:30 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. when DH came home from work. I only got about 2 hours of sleep  . DS has a dr. appointment on Monday so we can get to the bottom of this stuffy nose and cough business. I'm going to push for him to be put on some sort of daily allergy med. like Zyrtek (sp.?) . The poor kid can't live like this.

I went driving today :Pinkbounc ! Okay, so it was only in the parking lot of the movie theater but I still drove. I did get my license when I was 17 but voluntarily surrendered it about four years ago. My eyesight was just very poor and I was having anxiety attacks because I couldn't judge distance, etc. I didn't have the $ to keep it current and an state I.D. was only $10 so I gave up my license. Of course I could kick myself now since I'll most likely have to go through the whole thing all over again. But it's important to me to be able to conquer this. I'll never be someone who drives in heavy traffic or anything but to get around town I need to do this. I also think finding a job will be much easier if I don't have to depend on DH picking me up and driving me there.

That's all from here for now. I have a weekend away planned with sorority so I need to get things in order for that. I'll try to get to journals tonight if I don't pass out but considering the little amount of sleep I've had I may drop at 9:00 p.m. . I'm thinking of all of you and sending good vibes :goodvibes .

Yeah Val!! I know it is very exciting for you to get behind the wheel again. Even if its just so you can get around town and stuff.....:teeth: I wish you the best with that.

And I am hoping you get some much needed rest tonight. Sorry DS isn't feeling well. Push the drs if need be. As you said, the poor guy shouldn't have to suffer!!:(

Take good care of you Val!
