Val's Journal (comments welcome)

Hi Val,

I'm so glad you DS is having fun at school. It makes it so much easier when they transition well.

Have a great time tomorrow with the scavenger hunt. I did that with Katie last year, and it was a blast. We had a Blue's Clue's party and she had to find pawprints with clues to where her presents were. It was great fun.

:cake: :bday: :cake: :cake: :bday: :cake: To DS,
Beth

I dub thee "princess: Val, the Busy Gal!!". :p

You are handling all the parties in a great way! You're so organized! I'm sure your mom and your DS appreciate all that you're doing to help them celebrate!

Happy birthday to your DS!! :cake: :bday: :cake:

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for the Birthday wishes for DS :grouphug: . Wilderness, he just turned 5 :D .

Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. It has been CRAZED around here and on top of it DS and I started getting sick on Friday night. We are both feeling better today :D .

Everything still managed to get done this weekend and DH was a huge help since I wasn't feeling well. I'll have to remember to give him a big smooch later :love1: .

So, one party down and two more to go. To do list for the day:
1.) Finish folding and putting away laundry
2.) Take DS for lab work for school
3.) Get one child off the bus at 3:30
4.) Finish tidying up house after party yesterday
5.) Get in lots of quality time with DS :D

*6.) Do some walking!!

School starts for real tomorrow for DS. Last week he went for the day but DH went with him. The bus will pick him up around 11:30. I don't know how I feel about this. Actually, I know how I feel about it but I don't know how rational it is. I can just imagine how I'll act when he goes off to college someday  . It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. Maybe if I tell myself that enough times, I'll believe it ::yes:: .

I realize that my journal lately hasn't been even remotely about healthy living. I really need to get back into that and I keep finding reasons to put it off. I think I will add a sixth goal to my day and that will be to do some walking (either outside or on the treadie).

That's all for now  .

Hi Val,

So is your son starting preschool or Kindergarden? It is always hard to see them go I know. My littlest is only in preschool and cried the first day. It broke my heart to see him like that. I'm kind of glad my husband was there as he was "like a Dad and cold" about it so he kept me incheck. Actually my husband is very close to the kids and not cold, but you know what I mean. It will be ok. Worse on us moms I think. Our sons are the same age. I love this age and what comes out of their mouths. Very cute. I'm sure he'll like school as much as mine does. My son would love to go everyday and hates the weekends, or so he says! Good luck.

Hi Val,

Just dropping by to say "Hello" I hope things are going well for you today. Have a wonderful week.

Jodi

:( DS just left on the bus for the first time. It will only be three more hours until we get to go and pick him up.

Wilderness,
He's starting pre-school. He has a hearing loss which impacts his speech and he is also really tiny for his age (25% percentile) so we decided to start him in kindergarten next year since he is close to the age cut-off. Everything else is up to par for his age though :D .

Hate to say I didn't meet my walking goal for yesterday. Once everything else was done, it was getting dark outside so I would have had to go do the treadmill but I wanted to spend as much time with DS as I could. I know I am acting like I'm sending him to Siberia for 6 months instead of to the pre-school but I haven't left him with anyone before except MIL. Because of his speech, he is hard to understand to a lot of people and I worry about him when I'm not there to translate. I showed him on his backpack where it says his name and phone number and told him if he has trouble to show them his bag :D . That way they will at least be able to reach me in an emergency.

So instead of a nice healthy walk, I stuffed my face with junk last night  . Nothing seemed to satisfy me and that is because I was eating for the wrong reasons. But I kept going anyway. I think once we get through today and it goes smoothly then I will feel A LOT better.

That's all for now. I will get to everyone's journal later  .

 Val,

I know how you struggled with this decision. Katie has a boy in her class that just got a cochlear implant, and he is just learning to be verbal. The kids have a much easier time understanding him than the adults do. I am sure he will be fine, and have made a friend today.

You both are in my thoughts and prayers.
Beth

Well we all survived the first day :D . DS is looking forward to going back tomorrow.

I'll be hitting journals after his bedtime.

Hi Val,
 for you, sweetie. I am glad to hear that your son had a great day and is looking forward to going back to school. How are you doing? I bet that first day was tough for you so I am sending you an extra .

Take good care of you and have a great Wednesday!

Tracy :wave2:

Hi Val,

I'm just checking on you. How's preschool going. How are your nerves holding up. I'm thinking about you.
Beth

Hi Val,

I just wanted to check in. I haven't been around for most of the week but I will be back, full force next week.....Kind of fell off the diet wagon this week but have been keeping up with my exercise.

Well, I hope all is well with you....Have a wonderful weekend.:sunny:

Thanks so much guys, for checking in on me. I really appreciate it :grouphug: .

Things are going okay around here. The teacher says DS is doing great so that puts a lot of my doubts at ease. I have actually got a good deal of the house cleaning done for my mom's party while he's at school so that's a plus :D .

My mom is still driving me nuts but it will all be over soon ;) . Overall, things are good.

Val,

How is your son with writing his name/letters? My son is having such a hard time because he just doesn't like to do it! My others loved writing. I guess they really are all so different! Have a good night.:D

Val,

I am so glad to hear that your son enjoys school and is doing a great job!:bounce: I hope you get a chance to relax soon! You have been very busy lately.::yes:: Is your mom's party this weekend?

Have a great weekend!

Tracy:wave2:

Hi Val!:wave2:

Boy, you've really been through the ringer as of late, huh? Glad to see things seem to be improving for you. It sure is hard to send those kids off to school at first, but then watching them grow, learn, make friends...... is also very rewarding. Enjoy EVERY moment of it, because it passes too quickly. My little guy is in 2nd grade already and I'm not quite sure how that happened!!

Hope you get to slow down soon and get back to your healthy living. Make it a point to do something for you while he is at school - walk, aerobic tape, etc. I know how it is - not enough time for everything, but that is an excellent opportunity to exercise with no interruptions.

Hope you have a great day despite the rain. Here's some virtual :sunny: for your day!!

TTFN-
Sharon

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by  .

Wilderness,
My son can write his name and knows most of his letters. He really has no patience for sitting with me and working on them though. That is something I LOVE about sending him to school. It is a good enviroment for him to concentrate on learning.

The party went well but I am glad it is over. Just one more to go. I am feeling very stressed out lately and it just seems like it never ends.

The good news is DH and have made a new commitment to healthy living. I did well yesterday and even managed some treadmill time :Pinkbounc . I'm hoping to pound out some of my stress on it again later.

I am going to start recording in my journal again too. I'll list food, water, and exercise and whether I have done all three for the day.

I'll be checking in on everyone's journals throughout the day :wave2: .

Hi Val,

My son has no patience for sitting and writing either. He can now write his first name pretty well and doesn't mind tracing the other letters for homework. BUT when he has to not trace and then just write the letters he is working on he falls apart. I feel bad for him.......He knows his letters and is starting to spell/read but writing for him is another story! I just think it is kind of pushing him. What do you think?

I hear you about the stress of having a party. We just had our sons and are now planning our daughters party. Whew it is alot of work and stress!

:faint: :faint:

Have a nice rest of the day.:D

Hi Val,

Katie is the same way about writing. She just has no patience.

You are in the homestretch. One party is done, and now you can get through the second. Congratulations on renewing your healthy living pledge. It will help having DH onboard.

Have a good evening,
Beth
