Val's Journal (comments welcome)

hey val, great job stopping yourself when you knew you wanted more. that is often a very hard thing to do! i'm very proud of you :)

ah, this coming weekend could be a challenge. pizza is so good, i find it hard to stop myself on that one  . but as long as you plan it as a cheat, i'm sure you'll be just fine.

you sound like you're pretty crazy busy, definitely plan yourself a relax day...even if it's not till april! i'm definitely one of those people that needs 8 hours of sleep too (if not more)!! try to get some rest, even if it doesn't fit into your schedule :)

hope you have a great day today :sunny:

Hey Val~
Girl, you sound so busy! I hope that you are able to schedule that rest day in soon!::yes::

Thanks for posting in my journal. I really do appreciate all of the encouragement that I can get. ::yes::

As for the Windsor Pilates.... Today was my first day doing it and I really liked it! The set that I have is a 3 DVD set that includes the Basics DVD, the 20 Minute Workout, and the Accelerated Body Sculpting. I did the Basics DVD this morning and it was great! It will make a nice compliment to the FIRM videos that I have been doing for the past two months. You don't need any equipment (unless you want to use a mat) and it is a low intensity, but effective workout. Here's a thread on the WISH boards that you can check out:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=428265&highlight=+Windsor++Pilates

If you are interested, I think the DVDs are available at Walmart and at Target. Hope that helps!

Val, you are doing a great job on your goals! Keep up the good work!!!!:Pinkbounc Here's hoping that you can have some rest and relaxation soon!::yes::

Take care and have a wonderful day today!

Tracy:teeth: :wave2:

Val, I owe you an apology! With all this talk of Winsor Pilates, it reminded me that you asked about it a while back in my journal and I forgot to answer you! :( I'm sorry - sometimes I need repeated reminders.

I've got the same set that Tracy just mentioned. I've been doing the 20 minute workout for a while. I don't even use the DVD most of the time anymore - I've written the exercises and repetitions down on a piece of paper and I can do the 20 minute workout in 15 minutes! :p I've started to add in some of the exercises from the 50 minute workout DVD too.

You don't need any extra equipment but you do need to be able to stretch out on the floor. The exercises incorporate stretching and toning the abs, thighs and buns. I find it pretty relaxing to do, as most of the movements are slower paced - this is NOT a workout that will raise your heartrate and give you a good cardio workout.

I hope that helped. If you have any more questions, let me know.

Sounds like things are really busy with you! I hope you find a little "me" time soon!

 Hi Marcia,
Thanks for stopping by. I think the pizza will be okay because 1.) I really am pretty good about limiting my portions lately and 2.)I have 3 manly brother in laws to send the leftovers home with ;) !

 Hi Tracy,
Thanks for the info and the link! I really think this will be great for me to try. I'm pretty unco-ordinated so fast paced tapes are scary to me but the pilates sounds nice and slow plus it focuses on abs and that's where I need the help the most.

 Hi Doreen,
:D No need to apoligize! Thanks for the info. I'm heading to Walmart Saturday and I'm going to check out what they have. I'm really excited about trying this :D .

 Can't believe I'm actually getting to my journal twice in one day. Tonight won't be too bad since I didn't end up having to do the 2nd shift baby-sitting tonight. I'm gonna go down and do the treadmill as soon as I'm off the DIS and then I'm very much looking forward to curling up on the sofa and watching Survivor and The Apprentice ::yes:: . :wave2: Have a nice night, everyone!

Hope you are having a wonderful Friday! The weekend is almost here~!!! Keep up the good work!

:Pinkbounc :bounce: It's Friday! Now all I have to do is make it to 1 a.m. when the baby is getting picked up and my busy crazy week is done  ;) ! Actually last night was pretty relaxing. I watched my shows and did some stamping. It was just the break I needed.

Yesterday's stats:

goals:
1.)vitamins 11/11
2.)water 9/11
3.)limit fast food 11/11
4.)limit dessert 9 and half/11
5.)exercise 9/11

I've worked up to 1 and a half miles on the treadmill now.

food:
breakfast - dinner leftovers, mint patty
lunch - lowfat granola bar
dinner- hot dog, baked beans, couple of oven baked fries, mint patty

I haven't been needing my night time snack the last couple of days I guess. That's okay since I'm sure the hot dog wasn't exactly the best lowfat choice but I have been wanting one for awhile.

Hey Val, I just wanted to pop in and wish you a very wonderful weekend!! Glad to hear you got last night off! ::yes::

Hi Val!:wave2:
Well, they're saying we are going to have a nice weekend. Lets hope they are right!!:teeth:
You are doing so well! Good for you! 1.5 miles on the treadmill is great! And I like the idea of adding in the pilates. With your busy schedule, it should be just the thing for you!:teeth:
Hope you're having a great day!! Here's some extra :sunny: for you!
TTFN-

Good morning everyone :wave2: . Happy Saturday! Here's what happened yesterday; the good, the bad, and the ugly :crazy2: .

goals:
1.)vitamin 12/12
2.)water 10/12
3.)limit fast food 11/12
4.)limit desserts 10/12
5.)exercise 10/12

food:
breakfast - McDonald's bagel, egg, and cheese, hash brown
lunch - skipped
dinner - tossed salad, lf dressing, slice of light bread
snack - Special K cereal bar
snack #2- one Reese's cup and 7 ff pringles

Well as you can see I had to use my first fast food cheat yesterday. I also used the other "half" of my dessert cheat which means I am down to one left for the month ! Here's what I did figure out from this, though. I realized that it is when I am really tired that I crave the "junky" food.

I have been feeling tired all week and yesterday morning I had to get up early and go to the grocery store. We used to go to Mc D's pretty much every Friday morning after grocery shopping and we haven't done it in about 2 months. This morning I just really wanted it.I think it was a combination of convenience plus being tired. Skipped lunch because I was still so full from breakfast and then for dinner I made a Smart Ones brocolli alfredo. Took one bite of that and did not care for it one bit! So I only ate the salad and bread.

I went down to do the treadmill after dinner and did 2 miles trying to make up for the fattening breakfast a little. Felt pretty good about it. Started getting hungry so I had the Special K bar. Remember I was baby-sitting until around 1 a.m.? Well, I was really exhausted. I just HAD  to grab another snack around 12:30 a.m. and I was craving bad stuff like you couldn't believe!! That's when the lovely candy and chips went down the old hatch. I did limit myself on the amount but it still felt like such a waste of a day. My little bit of extra exercise was wasted.

So that was yesterday. At least I learned that when I am really tired I WILL crave garbage food. I'll have to try and break that cycle. Today is a new day and I will be going to get my pilates tape (yippe :D !).

Good morning, Val!

Don't beat yourself up about the junk food. The important thing is that you didn't go crazy  with it, and you've learned when you crave it, too. Now you'll be able to spot the situations when you're must vulnerable to those munchies.

I noticed that you indulged in some of those yummy mint patties the other day. I went to the store last night to pick up wipes for DS, and they had a 1 pound bag of them. I swear that I heard angels singing! Needless to say I bought it and am very proud that I haven't even opened the bag yet. I'm now set with my snack for the entire vacation and then some. :teeth:

I hope that you get some rest. Those kids can sure wear you out! ::yes::

I'm anxious to see how you like Pilates. I'll be trying my mom's tape out for the first time today. It could be ugly! :)

Have a good weekend!

~Angela :wave2:

When I'm tired I find that I crave junk food too. I've made that mistake so many times.

I'm curious about the Pilates too. I'm thinking of taking a class at the Y and would like to know what to expect!

Anyway, I hope you have a good and restful day today! Don't forget your water!

Desireé

 Thanks for stopping by, Angela.

Yesterday's stats:

goals:
1.)vitamin - 13/13
2.)water - 10/13
3.)limit fast food - 12/13
4.)limit desserts - 11/13
5.)exercise - 11/13

food:
breakfast - lean pocket
lunch - special k cereal bar
dinner - 6" sub with lots of veggies, ff pringles, mint patty

I picked up a Pilates dvd but they only had one to choose from and it wasn't Windsor. It's a Crunch tape and it's calle Pilates: Pick Your Spot. It was only $10 bucks so I decided to give it a shot. There are three ten minute workouts on the tape. One for each area abs, thighs, and butt. There is also a 15 minute total workout. I did all the workouts yesterday (well, I guess "did" is a relative term :o ). I TRIED to do all of them. Some of those positions are hard to do!! I even had a couple I couldn't do even the modified version. I just hope no one was secretly filming for America's Funniest Home Videos or anything :teeth: ! My ds was trying to do it with me and that was cracking me up so bad. I do feel it a little in my abs today, though so it must have done something even if I didn't do all the exercises.

Today is my Cheat Day. We are having everyone over for MIL's birthday. I won't be staying with my healthy eating plan but I do plan to not go too crazy and I also want to do both the treadmill and some Pilates to make up for it somewhat. Tomorrow is my weigh day but I'm scared of what it's gonna say. I'm thinking of changing my weigh day to Saturday. That way if I have a cheat day on the weekend, I have the whole week to make up for it. On Saturday I was down to 159 so that would give me a total loss of 6 pounds for three weeks. We'll see what happens tomorrow :earseek: .

I probably won't be able to get to everyone's journals until tomorrow. I have to get the house ready for the party and I'm still in my pj's. :wave2: Please know I'm thinking of all of you.

:wave2: Hi Desiree,
Thanks for stopping by. We must have been posting at the same time :D .

hey val, good for you for recognizing the pattern of eating when you're tired. since you now know that, it will be easier to combat it. maybe just plan out a legal snack if you know you're going to be up late, or something like that.

the party today sounds like lots of fun! i'm sure you'll be making good choices! hope you have a great time :bounce:

Good morning,
Yesterday:

goals:
vitamins 14/14
water 10/14
limit fast food 12/14
limit dessert 11/14
exercise 11/14

Food wasn't too bad. I stuck to my plan of cheating of course :teeth: but didn't over do. I had 3 small squares of pizza and a small piece of cake and ice cream. Didn't get to exercise since dh was called into work. I guess I could have popped in the Pilates after ds went to sleep but it was past 10 by that point and I can't do the treadmill unless dh is home since I can't leave ds upstairs alone.

I haven't gotten on the scale yet. I usually do it around 11 - 12 and I will report back when I see what it says. I've already done the Pilates total body workout (it's 10 minutes, not 15 like I thought) and the belly workout today and I am planning on getting to that treadmill tonight.

Good for you on not overdoing the food! It sounds like you're off to a good start for today. I don't blame you for not exercising that late at night. If I did Pilates at 10:00 pm I'd be awake all night!

Have a healthy and happy Monday!

Good morning, Val!

I'm sending you lots of good vibes for the scale this morning! :wizard:

Hope that you have a wonderful day! :sunny:

~Angela :wave2:

 Hey Desiree and Angela. Thanks for posting :D .

I tried to post this earlier but the Dis was acting crazy and I couldn't post. The scale is saying 160 which is where I was last Monday. On Saturday, I was down to 159 but I'm still pretty pleased with the 160. I didn't expect a loss this week with the cheating and I was actually expecting a gain. I did finally take my measurements the other day too so I can track those. Now that was a scary experience :earseek: ;) !

Hey Val!
I thought it was just me, but the DISboards did seem slower today. I tried posting to journals this morning when I was wide awake, (now, i'm half asleep:o ) but it seemed to take forever. I wasn't sure if it was the boards or my ancient computer with dial up modem. ;)

I want to thank you for all of the encouragement that you leave in my journal. It is so positive and always brightens my day! Thanks Val!:Pinkbounc

You are doing a great job with the exercise! I am doing the Windsor Pilates and I agree with you: some of those moves are hard, but they are effective. I have been FIRMing for 2 1/2 months now and I was so sore after doing the Pilates for the first time. Keep up the good work!

I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow. We're expecting 4-6 inches of snow here. Maybe shoveling snow will be my exercise for tomorrow.;) Of course, I'd much rather be mowing the lawn! (Shhhh.... don't let my husband hear that. :teeth: )

Take care!

Tracy:teeth: :wave2:
