It is my understanding that valet parking is free to members at DVC properties. When should I tip? At arrival? At departure? Both? How much? I don't want to be a cheapskate, but if I come and go several times in a day, I don't want to be tip-poor, either!

I usually tip when I get my car....I only tip when I arrive with luggage....Not sure if it makes me a cheapskate...

The industry standard is to tip when you pick up. It seems that DVC members are some of the most generous people. They tip both ways with valet, they tip non tipping positions at WDW, etc.

I usually tip $2 each way for good service. If I'm standing there a long time waiting for someone to come over and write up the claim check, especially when they are not busy, I don't tip (that doesn't happen too often).

If you are staying at the hotel you valet parked at, you can call from your room, they will usually have it pulled up by the time you get there.

It's true that traditionally a tip was only expected when the valet returns you car to you, but, needless to say, a tip is also appreciated when you leave your car with the valet.

15 years ago, I would tip $2 only when the car was returned to me. Since then, the cost of everything has gone up — and my salary has gone up too. Now, I usually tip $2 both ways. And I gladly tip more for especially attentive, quick and friendly service.
