I return the sentiment. :sad2:

Any body ever hear the old "how to boil a frog". You can't put him in already boiling water because he'll hop out, so you put it in cold water and turn up the heat slowly until it's dead"

That's what disney is doing. That can't make a lot of cuts or rate hikes at once because people would howl so every few months they take some thing away.

Value taken away... Thanks DVC. I am just waiting for the booking fee to kick in. It already has for non DVC destinations.... I really hope that someone is getting rich, and seeing the benefits of this, cause it sure isn't helping me!

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?
I saw the valet price increase news, but haven't heard this yet. Is the DVC valet parking price discounted, or are we supposed to pay full price?

I wonder if the TiW is still free???

What on earth is going on at WDW?!?! :sad2:

Oh man that sucks!
Must have come into effect some time in the last two weeks because it was still free on the day we left WDW - Sept 30th.
Have they mentioned this at all on the DVC member site?I'll have to take a look.
It was such a great perk grrr

Add this to the increase in parking for those staying off-site and you begin to wonder what the powers are thinking of :confused3

No discount just discontinued. MS said general parking is still free. Gee wiz, thanks so much.

If you have a handicap sticker it's still free.

Simple, they know that people are going to book a vacation with them anyhow. Someone is not going to cancel or not book at all because of $2 a day increase. If they are there all week added $14. Not going to stop someone.

No more free Valet, same thing people are still going to book. They will take heat for a couple months then done.

All about the $'s

And, valet for handicapped parking is not a 'perk, it's because most of the parking is far away from the entrances at the Deluxe hotels (to make more of a 'statement' on the entrance and not have the entrance 'cluttered' with parking. Giving free valet to people with handicapped parking permits allows them to place the parking farther away than would otherwise be allowed.

This not only hurts DVC members, but it also hurts the people parking cars. Less cars to park equals less tips.

But, for many of us it's becoming a situation of "one more thing".
Let's look at some latest
-fantasmic cutbacks
-cut backs in live pre entertainment like 4 for a dollar
-standardization of menus
-no more discount on all tickets, just AP discounts
-now valet parking gone.

So little by little just like my benefits at work the extras that distinguish disney from just an amusement park are disappearing.

For many people who make yearly trips they are becoming very noticable.
and disney is slowly losing my business. First, we began eating more and more offsite were last August during a 11 day trip, we ate a total of 3 on site meals.
Now we've decided to skip a year. so for the first time in 10 years since owning my dvc, I'm banking points.

I always ask the question, if Disney didn't offer so many "freebies" like the 4/3 deal or free dining would the hotels be as full? The value/dollar is slowly disappearing.

My two cents....

This is another ploy by Disney to stop you from renting a car.

This is also the reason for the parking fee increase.

Make it expensive and difficult to park and guests will decide to stay on site and eat at Disney restaurants, shop in Disney stores and basically spend every dime at Disney.

Anybody moving closer to that tipping point?

I'm not DVC but this still ticks me off. They are just so clueless.

Email sent, FWIW

These little things sure are adding up.

Anyone know if the TiW still carries free valet parking?

We just got back late last night/early this morning. Yesterday, we heard about the increase in the valet parking fee going from $10/day to $12/day. My DH told me that he had a feeling that they were going to start charging DVC members, and I told him no way. Sure enough, this morning I read about the change.

While we don't use valet at AKV, our home resort, we use it every time we go to BCV and BWV. It's definitely a perk that will be missed!

I was wondering the same thing about the TiW card. I'm so angry about this! We just got to use the perk of free valet this past summer and it was wonderful. We were so thankful this was part of the perks for buying a DVC ownership. I'm really disappointed about this. I don't know who we should email, though. If anybody cares to share the email addy to write a letter of concern, I'd appreciate it.

I am. it's not only this but other things that are starting to add up. cut backs in Fantasmic. Now H.S. are packed on fantasmic days. cuts in restaurant selections and quality. We eat more and more off site.
No one thing alone would have gotten to me but I just see it as more and more pieces chipping away.
For the first time in a long time, we are not planning a disney vacation. We are taking a few years off and going other places (Yellowstone national park and Paris, France :cool1:). That would have never entered our minds 4 years ago.
Part of it is a desire to go to new places and part is definitely due in part of the decrease in overall quality.

I see your point, but you'd think they'd have the complete attention of the guests who put the money out for DVC. Those are the ones they don't have to convince to spend their time on property. I think this is a terrible way to treat the DVC folks. They shouldn't take perks away that were there when they signed up.

New News Alicia and not news I am very happy about.. What next??

Very close to the tipping point, John and I have been discussing whether to even keep our DVC or sell it. This is just another reason to sell it.

We decided not to rent a car for our trip next week. I don't want to pay $150, for valet, on top of the rental fee. We never eat off property. I'm using the Garden Grocer for the first time ever. This will cut down our trips to DTD (and purchases). We don't like riding the buses and will take a taxi, if need be.
