Valet Parking At The Gf.

What is the charge for valet parking at the GF? Also are you able to use your own car whenever? Thanks for any info.How does it work?

I believe the charge is $6/day. You pull up to the valet, they give you a ticket and I believe they charge it to your room automatically if you're staying at the resort. You can get your car anytime day or night. You can either call ahead and have the car waiting or just turn in your ticket to a valet when you walk out the front door of the GF and they will get the car for you right away.

We tipped when we dropped off and when we picked up, but I am sure not everyone does this...although I do not know what is expected.

Oh, and by the way, the valet parking at the GF SUCKS so be prepared for a long wait when you pull the car up and when you go back to pick it up. I'm one of the GF's biggest fan, but the valet aspect just drives me crazy!

I recently wrote a letter to Georgina, and that was really my only complaint. We waited eight minutes when we pulled up to check in before anyone came to assist with luggage or park the car. Totally unacceptable for a property trying to earn five stars. In fact that particular portion of the resort experience is maybe good for three stars at best.

I agree with Cali on this....the valet service was horrible for us! We always had long waits for the car and this was in Jan. during what is considered a slow season for the resorts. We were at the GF for 11 days and took the car out a least once a day so I had plenty of examples of the poor service.

We called one day before we left the room to have the car brought around and we stood outside for over 15mins. waiting so the total time from phone call to car was close to 25 mins.

Sorry not acceptable in my opinion. I did speak to a manager about it.

Everytime we pulled up, we sat in the car for 5-10 minutes waiting for someone to take it. We also waited 5-10 minutes for them to pull the car around. We were there the first week of January.

Before staying at the Grand, we stayed at the Contemporary (we split our stay). The valets at the Contemporary were very quick and friendly. They started calling us by name (yes, we do go in and out A LOT!). I would rate the Contemporary's valet service "excellent". BTW, we also valeted at the BoardWalk around 2PM on a Friday afternoon, and our car was taken pretty quickly, but at 3:30PM when we picked it back up, our keys were just handed back and forth for 5 minutes before someone actually went to get the car.

Never used the valet parking but last sept. 18 nites at gf, Boy did I get some great calf workouts going to the "self" parking lot. It is totally across the street from the gf, valet lot, trees etc..... I could not believe it. I even c/o cause one night late, we heard some kinda animal in the forest next to the lot, at the 4 way light, I have no idea what is was, and the gf staff said that's the howling from the ghost house. I said no it is not, we have heard the "howling" constantly so I know what that sounds like, this sounded like a rabid badger! Any way, the valet lot was so totally empty, that we would cut through it, it takes a little off the walking. The gf staff also park in the self lot, but they get a lift in the little cars to and from there cars! They kept riding by us as we were walking over. Also there is no guard back there AT ALL, there is a little camera at the gate and they ask to see your id, or window card. WOW, talk about unsafe! MKY

We've not had that bad of experience valet parking at GF. We were burned once asking for our car to be pulled around one morning when they seemed to have only one valet working (waited 15 - 10 minutes). So after that we would always call down from our room to have the car brought around and it would always be sitting there waiting for us or coming around when we got there in 5 - 10 minutes.

Just a little funny note of when you call to have your car brought around, the manager at the desk either won't give you your keys (calling the valet up to show you where your car is parked - i.e. here is the guy that brought the car for your tip) or will comment that "Joe" brought your car around and ask you if you would like to leave anything for him.
