I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

so many changes make me think about cashing it all at now, and putting it in savings. I have an insanely large amount of URs.
Half of me says go for it, the other half of me wonders if they are going to do a promotion. This has been one of the worst credit card kept secrets as the rumors pour in, though when they usually come out, than a few days later released. This has been dragging for a month.

Working on next year's trip to Bavaria and Austria. Stops in Munich, Nurnberg, Fussen, Salzburg, Hallstatt, Vienna and Bratislava. I've got hotels worked out for Vienna - Park Hyatt and Bratislava - Crowne Plaza with FNCs. But I need some recs for the other cities. Thanks.

cant even make this up i posted and just saw this this makes the rumor more credible imo.

The Andaz in Munich was excellent. Not ideally located, but easy to get anywhere you need by public transport.

I chose to forgo the Park Hyatt in Vienna and save on points at the Andaz Vienna which was excellent value at 12k/night.

Bratislava we did as a day trip from Vienna. Enjoyed the trip but think we would have struggled to spend much more time there.

Salzburg - stayed at H-Hotel. If all you need is a bed and a shower it is fine, but not much else to offer. Good location next to the train station and main bus terminal which worked well.

We stayed at the Bayerisherhof in Munich. Lovely verrry nice hotel for sure. I used my FHR $200 credit which brought the cost (in early May) down to $267 total for 1 night. We got 2 free breakfasts (which was huge amount of choices) and the $100 hotel credit.

Tried this morning - still not working. Hope this is just a temporary glitch and not a precursor to something bad.
Me too. I plan to move all of DH’s to my acct too. I usually do it right away but I just churned the csp and haven’t moved his over to mine yet.

Thanks. I’ll check out the Andaz in Vienna.

I was taking Rick Steves advice on Bratislava. I’ll research a bit more to see if I need to stay over or just do a day trip.

Howdy folks. I have the Barclays AA card, got the SUB of one purchase and 70k miles last year and now have 3,600 miles just hanging out. Traveling out of Philly soon and would like to use the Admirals Club; can do for $79 or redeem for 7,900 points. If I put on my card, will they let me pay part of the balance with points? I think the answer is no but wanted to see if the brain trust here has any ideas!

all? Why? I still find the csp a great tool and a great bargain....and my ur's too. (and I have quite a few ATM)

Hey Group, need some Chase Sapphire help. I have a CSR since 2016. It is my primary card and I use it constantly and have many auto pays on it. With the new CSR rules I'm thinking to downgrade and switch to a CSP instead. Over the years I have product changed a number of cards and moved all but $5k of credit to the CSR, which means the CSR now has a very high credit limit. What is the best way to pull this off? I am at 1/24 for Chase (maybe 2/24 if cosigning a card for my kid counts) and have not been opening new cards in a while. I'm thinking to PC the CSR down to a Freedom, and then applying for a new CSP for the sub. If they given me a hassle I'll have to try and call to move some CSR/Freedom credit limit to cover the new CSP.

I have quite a bit of UR points as well so I'd try to use them up first, at least for any that I would purchase via the portal. I'm actually looking at booking United air tickets because it is a much better deal than to transfer to United for this flight.

I'm also considering switching out of the Chase universe and trying a new brand, maybe Amex.

Any good tips?

This is the loaded question right now if your getting whatever value for your points with Chase id say go for it. The thing is at least in other countries visa is way more accepted outside of tourist areas from my travels. im curious to see what happens with this chase card going forward, but if that 3x and transfer ended, Amex Green would be very close on my radar for a replacement card for those things. I think Citibank is their transfers also helped chase ease the way they are the only big card issuer left that does this easily AFAIK.

I'm with you. I book a lot of hotels on the portal and the 1.5 redemption is key. I still think I'll upgrade before the change and see what happens. I just decided on next year's trip and know I'll use the 1.5 redemption on hotels.

Side topic: my Enterprise corporate rate expired since I retired. They final noticed and now the rental I booked for Iceland is locked. I had to rebook and it is about 1.5x the old cost. I'll miss that perk (but not enough to go back to work :-))
If it makes you feel any better - when I use our corporate discount number for preferred vendors (aka car rental) it is more expensive than Costco - so I just book through Costco. My other option is USAA. Costco more often times than not beats USAA.

You're going to LOVE Fussen!! I really cannot put into words how much I loved Fussen when we went in 2016! The town is quaint, yet large enough to really feeeeeel like you're in Germany. We were eating at a local restaurant, and a Bavarian Oompa band came in and started playing, and it was like something out of "European Vacation". People were drinking their beers and swaying with the music! It was amazing!! I can't wait to see/read your photos and trip report.
Side note: do not get spatzel with limburger cheese in that town unless you REALLY know that you like that limburger cheese. The stench was so strong that I had to shove it across the table and ultimately have the waiter take the dish away.

Edited to add that in 2016 we stayed in the Hotel Weinbauer Garni in "Fussener". It was really quaint back then and oh so German!

We loved Fussen too! If we go back to Germany I would spend a lot of time down in that area again.

Speaking of Germany, we're planning to go next May. Is Salzburg worth making a day trip from Munich? We will have 2-3 days in Munich apart from that, and a day in Fussen.
