Valet Parking at the Contemporary

We have a morning ADR at Chef Mickey's. After breakfast we were planning on spending the day at MK. From what I understand, you can use the valet parking at the Contemporary ($20 +tip) and leave your car there for the entire day.

Is this true? I just wanted to be sure before we plan to do it. We're staying off property so we'd be paying $17 anyway to park at the TTC. So we figured we might as well splurge the extra 6 bucks or so to valet.

I have similar plans and similar understanding. I have been reading a ton about it and it seems that this can be a hot button topic. Ultimately, people have asked management and gotten approval. Self parking would not be okay but valet is okay. The only downside seems to potentially be waiting for your car afterwards but the way I see it is I would most likely have to wait for a monorail/tram so six of one, half dozen of the other to me. I am going to shoot for valet.

Yeah, there's definitely a time limit with the self park at the Contemp. I believe it's like 3 hours (but don't quote me on that). So even if we valet do we have to ask for approval? Or is it no questions asked if you do valet?

Actually, although there is a lot written about this 'time limit', I've never seen it. Self-parking at a resort is expressly for those either staying at the resort, or those using the resort facilities....shopping, eating, just looking around. You are expected to move your car when that activity is done.
But...anyone can pay to valet park, and then do whatever they want to do. If you want to valet park, eat breakfast and then head to MK for the day, that's fine.
The only time you may not be able to do that is if there were to be some kind of big function at the resort, which meant closing valet to only those staying at the resort. It happens, but not very often.

We did it at the Polynesian on our last trip. We asked a couple of different people and were told that it was fine to leave the car there all day with valet parking.

I agree that the rules about only parking at the resort while shopping, dining, and enjoying the amenities of that resort refer to using self-parking. When you're paying for valet parking, I think you can leave your car there the entire day if you want. I've not heard of there being a time limit regarding valet (other than if you leave it there overnight, you'll pay for a second day and if you're using the TiW there is a time limit).

Since we're having breakfast at Chef Mickey, I think it's probably worth the extra 6 bucks or so to pay for the valet rather than parking at the TTC that day.

Does the Valet allow for in and out that day? If I were to Valet the car at the CR and go to the MK for the day, would I be able to take a mid-day break, which would include picking up my car from Valet and returning later in the day back to the Valet, all for the same price?

Or does each in and out require paying again?

Valet allows for in-and-out at all resorts. If you pay to valet at the Contemporary in the morning, you can show your receipt to valet at the Boardwalk in the evening. You'll just have to tip a few extra times.

Valet is good for the entire day. You can leave, come back and valet again AT ANY RESORT (but you need your receipt to show you paid once for the day). Every time you leave and come back, you should give them a tip.

We valet parked at BWV this last trip, and it worked well for us. Note that the fee is waived with a HA placard.

I think it's only interchangeable at the Disney-owned resorts. I don't think this works at the valet stations at the Swan and Dolphin.

Interesting idea..... So how far is it to the Mk front gate from he contemporary, or is there another resort that is closer.

It's about half a mile from the Contemporary valet station to the MK bag check. It's pretty doable for most folks (for reference it's similar to walking from the Partner's Statue to the Flag Pole in the MK four times). Otherwise, as supersnoop mentioned, there are no other resorts from which you can walk to the MK.
