Valet Parking at Monorail Resorts

I never said we were entitled to any closer spots, all I said was it was un fair for someone who was not staying to keep a parking spot which happened to be closer for 12 hours, when they were not even staying there.

If the Contemporary guards were on the ball that night there would have been no reason for us to report this car. As for your other comments, it has been established the life guards do go around checking Resort ID's because they have asked my family while at the pools. When other guests report pool hoppers because I have read that on here, are they wrong for doing that? As for the mugs even if the rules written on them it's impossible to know if it was purchased during that time or on a previous trip.

Like I had said before that car happen to have their Days Inn parking pass displayed for everyone to see, so that is how I happen to notice it while walking threw the parking lot. So no I was not looking for guests breaking the rules, besides I was not the one breaking the rules so if anyone should be flamed it was this family who illegally parked there for 12 hours and not me for doing something about it.

Since you brought up rules, do you watch for pool hoppers and old mugs to be refilled too and report them?

Being the "nice" person that I am, I never mention that contradiction. When he mentions "rule-breakers," I always think about having seen him advocating the reusing of mugs. Guess his concern for following the rules is somewhat selective.

I, on the other hand, always advocate for following all rules as stated to me by those who should know, ie: WDW staff.

My real question here, though, is why do so many people who aren't affected by my parking practices, seem to care?

I notice that neither you nor CR4Life responded to my question regarding whether anyone staying at either the CR or the Poly has EVER been told that you couldn't valet park due to all of the non-guests doing so. I've asked that question many times on threads similar to this one. Have yet to get a response. Which again, begs the question...why do you care?
I did respond to what you asked. I said the Contemporary has not let guests valet park who were not staying there during hard ticket events, major holidays and any other times during the year. That way they keep the parking lots only for guests staying there and guests with ADR's.

Actually in the past I said and others agreed that the mug rule did not apply to ones with no rules on them. When it comes to the ones with the rules those should not be allowed to be refilled again on future trips to WDW.

So you're saying it's alright to break the rules if "it's impossible" for others to be able to discern that you are doing so? :sad2:

No, you did not respond to my question. I'll ask it again. Have you (or your parents) ever personally not been allowed to valet park because all of the valet parking spaces were being used by non-resort guests?

No that is not what I said. dannyh23 asked me if I would report anyone usign old mugs and I said it's impossible to know when a guest purchased their mugs. For example if someome went earlier in the year and bought the YOAMD mugs and brought them back before the year, there is no way anyone would know when it was purchased.

We have never valet parked while staying at the Contemporary.

Again, I'm not trying to be snitty but your "cheating the system" comment is confusing to me. Are you talking about the valet parking spot the guest paid for or the perhaps the dinner or breakfast they had while at the resort? I think that's a bit of a stretch to say that someone who is paying for a service at the resort is cheating.

The Value/Moderate "resorts" comment is also a bit disconcerting to me. I wonder if people that stay at the CR, Poly or GF would be just as crucified using the Epcot Center "resorts" amenities or is it just the people who stay value or moderate that you are concerned with? I mean the deluxe guests in the other resorts are paying the same as a guest at the CR. In my case, I'm paying more, so I'm wondering what your stance is on that.
I think what NEVERENOUGHWDW is saying that anyone can valet park if they are going to a Resort for an ADR. However once their meal is done and they plan on visiting the Magic Kingdom, they should move their car to the TTC because they are no longer going to be at the Resort so they have no business using a service they offer while they are not there.

If MK Resort guests were to visit the Deluxe Epcot Resorts and took the buses to get there from the Magic Kingdom, for a meal they are not taking up any parking spaces in the self parking lot or valet parking lot. So what is wrong about that because anyone can have breakfast, lunch or dinner at any Resort. Now if they were to drive there and self park or valet park, but left once their meal is done and did not visit Epcot they are not doing anything wrong because they used that service of the Resort during their meal and not during any other time after that.

No, I am talking about them driving their cars, using parking spots and/or using the boat to Epcot or swimming in their pools (using their amenities while not paying for them). For example, is it ok for someone to use a parking spot for a whole evening to visit the Boardwalk and/or visit Epcot utilizing their boat transportation?

..Personally, I have more to worry about in my life than whether or not someone is taking a parking spot. Good Lord, people need to take a breather and think about what is important.
So why did you post the thread and keep responding to it????:confused3

You skirted some questions. I'll ask again for clarification:

Do YOU PERSONALLY watch for pool hoppers and old mugs to be refilled and report those guests to CM's? Old mugs are VERY OBVIOUS.
Do YOU PERSONALLY reuse mugs from previous trips or refill one-time-use paper cups?
If all the hammocks are full at Wishes time at Poly, are you going to go up to guests and ask them to show you their Resort ID because you feel that you should get first shot at them? Or will you let the issue go because they are all in use?

Are you bashing the CR parking lot guards for not being "on the ball"? You accidently within a matter of minutes at night just happened to catch a car that was sitting there in the open for them to catch for 15 hours -- and that they just kept missing. Are they that dumb, or is it possible that they themselves just don't care if someone goes to the parks too if plenty of spots are open?

Why don't you just lay off the kid, dannyh23? You are sounding more and more like a bully. :sad2:

Hmm.. Thats interesting to know.. I know that anyone can ride the monorail from the TTC but I was always under the impression that the resort monorail was for resort guests only. I know years ago they used to check Resort keys before you could board the buses! Those were the days!
Hmm... Anybody in the Orlando area is welcome to visit any resort and make use of many features - shops, restaurants, bars, watercraft rental... limiting the Resorts monorail to only Guests staying at those three resorts might (a) well prevent non-monorail Guests from spending money at those resorts (and we know how Disney feels about getting as many of our dollars as possible ;)) and (b) not be cost-effective, considering the comparatively few Guests that would be eligible. In addition, in recent years, there've been times when ONLY the resorts monorail has been running. Would it be preferable to strand non-monorail Guests at the TTC, or directly in front of Magic Kingdom... keeping in mind that not everyone is willing to use water transport...

But almost all those twelve hours (nine, actually, since the first three were authorized) did not affect you because you did not need a parking space; and it apparently did not matter to the Contemporary - i.e. the resort management did not feel there was a dearth of parking at any time that day - because the car was not towed or even ticketed during any of the nine overstayed hours.

We have never valet parked while staying at the Contemporary.
Then I'm confused - how does the business owner not enforcing its own rules affect you?

Agreed. If a valet CM says you can valet and keep your car there all day long, who are we sitting on a message board hundreds or thousands of miles away to second guess the CM?

My apologies if it comes across that way to you.

The "kid" can take it to PM's with me at this point if he wants... I was just *trying* to get a straight answer.
