EPCOT DAY

We didn't have to be up quite so early toady since Epcot opens at 10:00 a.m. so we took our time over breakfast in the hotel lobby. We arrived at Epcot around 10:15. I was immediately impressed. The Flower and Garden Festival was in full swing and it was truly breathtaking. The topiaries were everywhere. DH ran off to get fastpasses for Test Track for him and I and the rest of us just marveled at the big fountain for awhile. We checked out Ice Station Cool and tried some of the drinks. Some were pretty good. Some were not!! We then walked through the Flower and Garden Center. Fun for DMil and me, not so much for DS and DH. They were pretty bored. We all checked out Innoventions East and West and DS wanted to play with each and every computer. I would like to spend more time here someday. There seemed to be a lot of neat stuff. It was time for our Test Track fastpass, so DH and I went and got in line. It was the longest line we stood in the entire trip. It took about 30 minutes and that was with fastpass. The ride was okay but it seemed short to me. We bought our picture in the gift shop and then headed out to meet DMil and DS. I was starving by this point so we headed to the Electric Umbrella for some lunch. DS was really fussing. "I want to ride the choo-choo. I want to ride the horsies. Where's Pooh Bear?" Well, there were no choo-choos, horsies, or any Pooh Bear to be found. When I told him this, he decided to have a real fit. Luckily, it was very loud in the restaurant so I don't think he disturbed anyone but me. Despite this little episode, our lunches tasted very good. DH and I each had a burger and DMil split a chicken strips meal with DS. I thought maybe a ride would appease DS so we got in line for Spaceship Earth. The line had been 60 minutes when we first came in but now it was only 10. I thought the ride was okay but DS was unimpressed. He still wanted Pooh. The Living Seas was our next stop and this worked like a charm to cure DS's fussiness. He just loved seeing the "fishies"! This exhibit is just great. I have been to many aquariums and I was very impressed with this gigantic tank. We spent a long time here, at least an hour, watching the sharks, fish, and a huge sea turtle. Next up was the land pavilion. We first stopped for a fastpass for the boat ride and then we went in to the Lion King movie. After this, DS was due for a nap so he sat with DMil and was out in about 5 minutes. We sure didn't want to wake him after his fussy morning, so DH and I went to go see Food Rocks and the boat ride by ourselves. DS probably would have loved Food Rocks. It was a really cute show! Since this pavilion was sponsored by Nestle, I felt compelled to have a chocolate bar from the gift shop. DH had some ice cream. Once DS was awake, we headed to Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. DS did not like this one. I think it was the people screaming that scared him more than anything else. He kept looking for the mice from the movie for the rest of the day. I couldn't wait to start touring the countries so we went there next, going in a counter-clockwise direction. DMil had her highlight of the vacation while watching the Beatles impersonators. DS loved this too. He really got into it with singing and dancing. We stopped in Japan to watch the parade. We got great seats and we all enjoyed this parade. I bought a fan from the big store in Japan to keep us cool and DH and DMil each got a kaki gori. DS had a couple of the puppets sweep over his head and he was just in awe. After the parade, we continued on to U.S.A. and stopped to watch the Turtles perform for the Flower Power Concert Series. During the show, I had gotten DS a hot dog and fries for his dinner. While I was handing him a fry, a big bird swooped down and grabbed it right out of my hand. Then a nice woman standing behind us warned me that another bird was stalking his hot dog from some bushes behind us. GROSS! Next we went to Germany so DH could get a beer. There was a group of guys there that had obviously had more than one beer and they were pretty funny to watch. DMil grabbed a cannoli in France. It was almost time for the parade again so we decided to watch it again, this time in the dark. We watched from France and it was very neat in the dark. After the parade, we quickly finished looking around the other countries because we wanted to get out of there before the fireworks started. We just didn't want to face the crowds afterwards. Next time we go, we will start on the other side to see what we missed. All through the trip I kept saying what we should do next time to DH as a hint that I would like to come back soon. He said we can come back in two years :) . We left Epcot just as the fireworks were starting. Next time we will make sure to stay for them. We were back to the room and fast asleep by 10:30. I really like Epcot and I can't wait until we have more time to spend there. Oh yeah, I forgot to write that we saw some people actually swimming in the fountain in the afternoon. They were completely in the fountain, going underwater and everything. DH overheard a cm say that he had been telling them to get out for an hour and they wouldn't listen to him. It seemed kind of strange to us.

Sounds like a nice day - some day I will be able to get there for the Flower and Garden show - thanks for posting!

Swimming in the fountain??? Ewwwww! Security, get 'em out of here!

:bounce: Bumping up for friends and family :) ! :Pinkbounc

Great report. Wish I could have seen the garden show this year. I like all the topiary as well.

Your DS's reaction to Epcot is why we spent most of our time in the MK for our last 2 trips. Hope my DW (& DS) will let me enjoy Epcot more our next trip! Swimming in the fountains LOL

It's really great how the CMs from the ToD (& last years ToN) parades interact so well with the little ones!:D We had wonderful experiences the last 2 years with our DD!

Thanks for sharing another great trip report!
