Needing to replace my vacuum. Looking for lightweight but one that is powerful. Haven't bought a vacuum in years. Any recommendations?

I love my Dyson. I never realized all of the hype until I actually used it. Even DH and DS comment on how much easier it is to handle, and how much it picks up.

I have a robot vacuum for daily stuff. And a kenmire canister for weekly/bi weekly stuff I live them together. The robot goes on and picks up small stuff with a button. The big one deep cleans when I need it.

Oreck, love the light weight, it has no attachments, but I have a canister in the closet for that. The coverage I bought has it serviced every year, and I love the look of my carpet every time I use it. There are paper bags nd loth filter bags. I have asthma and cats and it is the best investment in nearly 38 years of owning everything from the top door to door sales type, to Kenmore mega one's toooo heavy.
Edited to add, I bought a shark vac to replace my old canister to do the stairs and attachments. It is okay for the cost, but the Orek is a killer for clean machine and light.

Just bought a Miele vacuum. Purchased the titan version (its red). It's a canister and very lightweight and has suction to beat the band.

It's truly amazing in getting the dog hair and I can actually get under my sofas with no problem.

I recently bought a Dyson and I love it. It is so easy to handle, it just swivels so nicely.

Just bought myself one for Christmas! Had one for almost 15 years, wanted to replace it, my mom offered, but ended up buying me an even more expensive HEAVY vacuum, which was always breaking. So, I'm back to my Oreck, and couldn't be happier! I can lift it with my pinky, and it does a great job!

Thanks everyone.
We wound up getting a Shark and I love it. So lightweight, easy to maneuver and suction is excellent. It was between the Shark and Dyson but DH, for budgetary reasons went with the Shark. We got it at Target and was able to get a $20 GC with it.

I just had a very heavy vacuum and hated it. I've heard great things about Oreck. My friend swears by it and had a golden lab and all the pet fur was easily handled with the Oreck.

I have an Oreck, a Sharp and a Dyson, and the Oreck got moved to the basement as it's my least favorite. It doesn't pick up as well as the other two.

We had a Shark and had tons of issues with it. Switched to Dyson 2 yars ago and I will always own a Dyson now. I can't believe the stuff it picks up. We moved into a new house last year and was told the carpets had been professionally cleaned twice. Well my Dyson picked up carpet powder and pet hair for 6 months after we moved in. I use it on our tile floors for a quick sweep too! Worth putting the cash down on it.

I also love my Dyson. I have a Dyson Animal DC14 Upright. I regret not getting one of the "ball" models which I think would be a little easier to use. The one I have is NOT lightweight, so carrying it up/down stairs can be a PITB.
