Vacuum cleaner recommendations - Update Pg. 8

I love the Rainbow! But I also love my old Hoover wind tunnel that I used before it. Still works great I use it upstairs so I don't have to drag the big rainbow around upstairs.

I have a cheap model from Kmart (we have very little carpeting in our home), so I can't really make any recommendations. I just wanted to say I think it is quite entertaining how ANYthing can be debated on the DIS. :rotfl:

I have the teal Dyson. I like it. Don't hurt me.

And for those with allergies..I'd never hear a bagless was a problem, has anyone else?

Yes, I've heard it is a problem. You're emptying a canister full of crud that usually gets in the air. I hate those bagless vacuums.

We have allergies and found that the way you empty the Dyson is easy and doesn't have us wheezing or coughing. The canister empty's from the bottom, we put a bag around the canister, shake a couple of times tie the bag and close the canister again. Works for us, may not work for everyone.

I love my Dyson. It sucks up all of MY hair that seems to plunge from my head.

This thread is hilarious though. :rotfl:

*Lifetime highest grade filter
*Filter fits all DC 07 models
*Filter should be washed at least every 6 months
Washable filter media is inherently inferior to disposable filter media. You have uncovered another serious flaw in the Dyson.

I just vacuumed up my deck with a 60 year old Kirby. So I guess they last. It belonged to my late uncle.

We had the deck enclosed and there was still a lot of debris out there and I didn't want to use my Oreck. That Kirby had amazing power.

SonicLogic, please see my post #80, and also kindly address my post #70. Thank you and have a lovely day.

The filters in the Dyson will stop wristwatches and babies from being thrown out of the vacuum, but most anything else will be sucked up and blown back out again. The "Dual Cyclone" design of the Dyson vacuums use the principle of cyclonic separation to remove dirt from the air. Unfortunately this method doesn't work very well for small particulate matter. The sales pitch is, however, very impressive but the vacuums aren't.

 Hey, can anybody see me? I'm wondering if I'm invisible since my posts seem to be largely ignored!
