Looking to all of you for help.....

Has anyone used VacationsToGo in the past? If so what are your feelings, opinions comments about the experience? I found a cruise with dates that would work perfectly for my husband's 50th birthday. I wanted to get feedback before I called and booked. Our first Disney cruise this past summer we booked directly through Disney - but the $$ listed on VacationsToGo's website are great and wondered if they are too good to be true!

Thanks for your help! :wave2:

Vacationstogo sells at exactly the same price as DCL. The prices listed on their web site don't include one of the taxes which adds about $50 per person. They also don't include transfers or insurance.

I used them once. Their service was good. The delivery of documents was a joke--they used an "off brand" delivery service that literally threw the documents on my porch (this in the old days when we couldn't get them on line!) and a neighborhood dog chewed them up. We arrived home and I wondered what the trash all over the yard was.....started cleaning it up and found some scraps large enough to identify that it was DCL stuff. Meanwhile DD was hysterical--she thought we wouldn't be able to go on the cruise because we didn't have "the papers." The guy could have put them between the doors or in the paper box, either of which would have been safe. I know he couldnt' put them in the mail box (that's illegal), but between the doors makes lots of sense!

I called VTG and insisted that THEY, not I would be paying for the new documents because the ones they sent had never been delivered to me.

They don't give any sort of OBC or any other perks. SO, no real complaints, just that you can get better perks elsewhere.

I do find their web site very convenient as a way to check prices.

These guys are who I used to book my Disney Cruise for April - I saw the kids sail free and jumped without shopping around anymore (stupid on my part). The Travel Agent was very nice but I am sorely disappointed that I could have used Dreams Unlimited and gotten onboard credit (not to mention someone more experienced about some of the questions I asked about the Disney cruise ship). And as a side note, I called wanting their lowest price listed and they didn't have it for any of the dates I inquired about, so I am very suspicious of that. I am of the opinion that using a Travel Agent is great, but not all are equal ;)

When I used them for my Oct 08 cruise, I got $50 OBC for each cat 12 room (I had 2). They were fine to use and never did have a problem. The TA worked everything out for me (including transferring to early dining and link res with others).

I jsut booked a May 09 cruise via DCL. I did not use them this time but I am thinking of tranferring to a TA just for OBC. I'm not sure what I will do yet. I've tried to contact DU about this but never got a response.

Hi brucechase

I am sorry that you did not receive a reply to your inquiry with DU. Please feel free to email me directly at John@DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com and I would be happy to answer your questions.

I would also like to know which email address you sent your email to so I can investigate what happened.

Thanks
John

Thanks for your responses - they are appreciated!

The price tag of $299 pp for an inside stateroom (Cat 12) just sounded so great of a price. But I need to find out what the additional costs will be - because right now the Disney website it more expensive.

The Disney site includes all taxes. VTG will add the taxes later! DCL site also includes insurance and transfers which you can remove.

DCL does not allow any TA to discount the cruise price, unless they are selling group space in cabins that the Travel Agency has already purchased. In the end, your cruise fare will be the same as booking directly through DCL. As others have said, most online TAs do not include the taxes, port charges or transfers in the initial price, but add at least the taxes and port charges into the total price when you book.

My parents have used the same TA at VTG for 11 cruises and never had a problem. He goes out of his way to help them. These were for non-DCL cruises so I can't say how much knowledge they have in DCL but for all other cruiselines I know they know their stuff.

I used them once and wasn't "thrilled" ... I had gotten a price from expedia and then found VTG and told them the price ... they offered to match it as well as give me a $75 OBC but when we got on board, there was no credit and then when I got home, the agent told me that he never offered me a credit so I was disappointed that they dangled that credit to get the booking and then didn't come through with it.
