Vacation Tips for Women! :)

did you start it for the first time or have you been on it for a few months? if you just started the first pack either ever or after you've been off for awhile that could be why. could be if you're just starting your not on a high enough dose. i finally got mine after gogin througha m/c and started the pill and no word of a lie while being on it i had af for 7 weeks! then my doc started me on a new pack. that helped a lot!!!!

i know i started back about 2 months ago now, now on third pack, and i have to skip this month so i don't have it at the end of september for our trip. been there done that, got the tshirt, so not fun! i will never have af at disney again if i can avoid it!

I have not taken the pill for a long time and just started taking it like I said on July first.... I started what i thought was my period on August 1 and i have not stopped ever since. Like i said my doctor told me it was because i threw my system off and thats why. I am not having a heavy flow but its just a light bleed (sorry) every day. I just wish it would stop so i don't have to worry. About three or four days ago i stopped taking the pills because i thought something was wrong after i did not stop. I am usually a 5 day person so that what got me worrying after 8 days.

no need to be sorry! i know all about it! lol more than likely it is because youre new back on it. mine is normally 2 weeks heavy without being on the pill and when i hit week 4 and it was all heavy i had enough. take lots of supplies with you just incase, i've heard prices for them at disney are absurd. hopefully you'll be af free when youre in the world!

oh me too!!!!!

Last Christmas at WDW the monorail station at the the Poly. I will never forget this. This poor yound lady in white pants (white after labor day:scared1: it was christmas time:scared1:) and high heels. The white pants and high heels really made her stand out anyway. Well flo was in full force almost down to her knees:scared1: I blocked my boys view with all that was in me, the poor lady had to be mortified. I don't know what find of comment they would have made and did not want to find out, they don't know about Aunt Flo.:rolleyes1

Good luck with pill thing, when I'm worried about it, nothing will stop it. Not evan taking the pill to stop it.

I read this whole thread! Thanks ladies I am now going to my nearest Lush counter, buying Monostat anti-chaffing cream, spray deodorant and peppermint foot cream. Also have a dr's appt on mon, going to ask about skipping last week of pills to avoid period at disney...Thanks for all the tips!

Any tips for keeping you energy up in the heat? I do drink caffeine, but I know that dehydrates you. I also will try to take a few ibuprofren before we head out to head off any headaches, I also took ginger pills last trip for motion sickness, I felt they worked great. I took one or two in the am and one in the middle of the day if I felt sick.

For me, the key to surviving the Orlando heat was my pre-trip preparation. I started walking more, and doing it in the late morning to build up my tolerance for heat. Even though, I live in the Caribbean, I have found the Orlando heat to be unbearable on previous trips.

Make sure you eat properly - meal skipping is a no-no. Not only will you have no energy, you will increase your chances of developing bad headaches if you haven't eaten properly. And last but not least, stay hydrated and take advantage of any and every opportunity to stay cool. You will be amazed at how much of a difference a few minutes in the shade or air conditioning can make.

I have been looking for the elusive "holy grail' of good fitting bras forever, it seems. I have worn only underwire bras for over 20 years, but last year I was in Penneys and was looking for new bras, and the saleswoman talked me into trying the Penney's brand, "Underscore", and I couldn't believe how well it fit and supported me without an underwire. It even has some wide, cushioned straps. I was wearing 42 DDD when I first got them last year, and since losing weight am down to a 40 DDD. They are great, and inexpensive to boot- I get them when they are buy one, get one free. I highly recommend you try one on and see if it might work for you- I always bought the more expensive Bali, etc, but will not go back to them-The larger sizes for this new brand aren't always available in black, but I have always been able to get them in beige at least. Let me know if they work for you!

Just went to Lane Bryant and bought some of their sports like type bras they have cotton and lycra, bought one of each, seems much thinner than my super sturdy padded underwires. Buy one get one 50% off so 20 a piece. FYI

So I know everyone is always talking about how to skip or delay "Aunt Flo's" arrival.

I thought this was going to be the first year I didn't take her along to Disney with me. I have been counting out the cycle since April, and all seemed well.

A little back story - My birth control (and flow control) is Merina. I can't take pills, mostly because I forget. The first year with Merina was daily spotting. Now that I am 2 years, 8 months in, my cycle has gotten normal - every 24-26 days.

So what happens this month? 30 DAY CYCLE! So if I have my "normal" 8-10 day cycle, Aunt Flo will be along for the whole trip :headache:

 Luckily, I'm due for mine a few days after I get back (but just in time for college move-in-day..and lugging all my junk up 3 floors to my room..:headache: )

First let me say that I am in the *ahem*menopause phase and I have SUPER thick long hair, I could not live without my little personal fans. I have them all over the house!

It really was a lifesaver at WDW last September - I even shared with lots of very hot babies in lines. Put extra batteries in an odd footy sock and your set to go! About $3-$5 at Walmart.

I wear dresses and skirts - just wear bike shorts underneath. The microfiber ones are very comfortable and even hold your tummy in a little.

For a cute sandal to wear with your dress/skirt - I recommend Dansko's - they are cute and SO comfortable. They can be expensive though but you can always find a good deal on them (and other comfortable sandals and shoes) at 6pm dot com (sign up for the emails here and you get GREAT deals on 3 brands M-F) and sierratradingpost dot com.

The neck coolers - while not completely attractive, really do help.

My most important tip:
Woman ALWAYS have a lot on their minds, it's just the way we were built. So, when you leave the gate to board the plane or your house to get in the car - take in a deep breath and exhale - leave ALL your worries and problems at the gate (or house) let it all out - I promise you they will be there when you get back - just let them go while your on vacation! :thumbsup2

Love this thread!!

I have a tip that I don't believe has been posted. I pack cucumber slices (in a ziplock). Store them in the fridge or on ice. At the end of the day (or mid-day) lay down for a few minutes with slices resting on your eyes. Very refreshing!

Sometimes I will pilfer the cucumber from my salads to bring back to the room :rotfl:

I have to ask: Does anyone else have a problem with being really weak right before they get their Monthly Visitor? If so, what do you do to help cope? I always feel really weak in addition to being just plain tired. Any ideas on what might help with that?:confused3

Have you had your blood levels checked? I had a thorough physical last year and was surprised to hear that I'm slightly anemic. Add my monthly ordeal to that, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why I need 2-hour naps every day around the start of my cycle. My batteries need recharging!

My doctor recommended increasing my intake of dark green veggies and eating more red meat (I mainly live on chicken and turkey). My anemia isn't so bad that she wants to put me on iron supplements, so I eat a hamburger or steak once in a while (pure torture, I know). It seems to help, and I really notice a difference when I don't eat the way she suggested.

I hope this helps! :flower3:

LOVE THIS THREAD! My daughter will be 19 next summer when we vacation. It'll be her FIRST TIME EVER! We've been reading and sharing info as we come across it and compiling a list on the computer of essential items to pack. We still have 7 pages or so to read through...keep those ideas coming. Thank you, WDW Vets and Pros! :worship:

Time for me to add to the thread! We just got back from a 6-day trip. I'm a pooh sized 42 DDD and found the Lane Bryant bras without underwire fabulous! They were very comfortable since they breathe in the heat and they provided excellent support. This is my first trip where there wasn't any chafing underneath the girls!

Also, after much research and deliberation, I bought the Bon Voyage baggaline to wear across my body. I loved the bag with all its pockets and it held everything I needed it to and more. However-- I have come to the conclusion that cross-body bags are not for the well-endowed woman. :cutie: It annoyed me with the way it hung between my breasts because the stuff inside the bag weighed it down uncomfortably, which seemed to aggravate the strap's tendency to irritate my neck. I don't think this was the bag's fault and would recommend it to anyone who didn't think this would be a problem for them. But I have decided I need to try a fanny-pack type bag.

Just my thoughts!

I just bought these too! Did you like the cotton or the lycra one for the heat? I think I am leaning towards the lycra one, it would seem to dry easier?

I actually got the cotton one. I thought the Lycra was too much like the others I've tried and would hold the moisture in more while I was wearing it. I didn't even notice the cotton one was sweaty while I was wearing it, and I took three of them so I could wash them in between wearings (we were in a DVC unit and had a washer and dryer, but I would think washing them in the sink would also do in a pinch).
