Vacation Tips for Women! :)

I think it's because of the suction the Diva Cup creates. When you break the suction to get the cup out, they're worried it will suction the IUD out. This is what I've read on a site when I was researching the cup, but I don't have an IUD, so I'm not positive. It makes sense, though.
Oh, duh! That totally makes sense - I didn't think of that! Thanks for the clarification! :goodvibes

Can we get a couple of votes here?

Underwear in August heat;
thin cotton (e.g. jockey)
microfiber (e.g. patagonia)
other?

Bras:
microfiber jogbra
whatever normally worn
cotton underwire
other?

Definitely not cotton undies. Contrary to popular belief, cotton does NOT breathe! I found some wonderful ones made by Barely There and the style is called "breathe". They're some sort of microfiber that does just what it says - breathes! So, I recommend microfiber, but I'm not sure if all microfiber would actually breathe like these. They actually say not to use fabric softener like is printed on other sportswear like shirts that breathe, so there's something specifically done to the fabric to make it breatheable apparently that would be lost if dryed with fabric softener.

Can't help with the bras because I am relatively small, and can get by with the tanks with built in shelf bra, and that works with me along with deod underneath.

I recommend getting hanes bras with petals. I bought them at Target for 12.99. I was able to relax and not have to worry about "headlights" when we went into the air. :rotfl: They were also good for the water rides. :thumbsup2

This sounds perfect! Is this the name of the bra "Hanes with Petals"? or do you have to buy the 'petals' separately? I am hoping it comes in Big Girl Sizes. :yay: Thanks!!

Do any of you ladies use sanitary pads? Do they irritate you? I was told years ago that I was allergic to bandaid tape. I've never really had lots of issues with bandaids but when I use sanitary napkins they bother me. Sometimes the "wings" don't fold over just right and they stick to my legs. My legs get raw and wrinkly and itchy. I think it may be an allergic reation. Do they make hypoallergenic pads? I'm gonna order a Diva cup but haven't gotten around to it yet. That will probably solve all my problems.

Yep, I have to use pads because of uterine prolapse - tampons just don't stay in. I'm also allergic to band-aid tape - every time I use a band-aid, I get blisters all around the edges of where it was stuck. I've never had a reaction to pads, though, but probably because I don't buy pads w/ wings. Those wings drive me INSANE! The stick everywhere except where they're supposed to! I bought Instead to try before spending the money on a Diva cup (after reading about it here) and am sorry to report that the Instead doesn't stay in, either! And since I bleed almost every day, I'll be taking pads to WDW w/ me in a few weeks. :headache:

I'm planning our first trip to WDW and I am in search of a bag to carry. I was hoping to get some opinions regarding bags with an "across the chest strap" that would be comfy for busty women (DDD and up). Any suggestions? :confused3

I'm a DDD and upon many good reviews and recommendations I got a Baggalini messenger bag. It's very roomy and has lots of pockets and zippers to hold stuff - it actually held more than I thought it would. There were 2 things that drove me nuts, though. It's made for a right-handed person. I'm left-handed, and having to wear the bag on the "wrong" (right-handed) side was irritating. The second thing is that even though the strap was very long (it's adjustable) and I was able to wear it where I wanted it, it also dug into my neck throughout the day, so I actually had to switch it and wear it on the other side of my body to get relief for my neck. This also felt better because it was on the left-handed side, but it was awkward because it wasn't the way the bag was meant to hang.

So, bottom line is if you're right-handed, the Baggalini bag will probably work really well for you - just make sure you've got some moleskin or other type of padding to put on the strap if it starts to chafe your neck. If you're a lefty, like me, I'd try something else.

Wow, sorry that was so long! :goodvibes

OH.MY.GOD.

I bought the Lush shampoo this weekend, and it is amazing!!

I've recently gone back to using more natural products on my hair and the lush shampoo is much better by far.

This will definitely be coming with me to Florida!!

Thank you for the advice :thumbsup2

xx

I have never heard of Lush but I do know that Basin in GF & I think DTD has shampoo bars. I haven't tried them but they look great.

Hi all,

Living in the Pacific NW, I can get away with layering tops all year round. But it just occurred to me today that one of my tops would be way too low without an undershirt (you can see my bra)

I know I can't wear two shirts while we're there in Sept. What do those of you who live in hot climates do?

Under some tops a sports bra can look like you are layering, this worked for me in June & was comfortable

Fell into the trap again - planned a vacation wardrobe capsule around 3 colours (black, yellow and white), planned out my outfits, most of which revolved around white shorts or capris. Sounded really good in theory except that I forgot that Miss Flo would have been joining me on my trip. So I had to go out and buy some dark coloured shorts since white bottoms, Miss Flo and day-long visits to the parks didn't seem like a good combination!

I might be starting towards the end of our vacation. My DH thinks I'm completely mental because I made a list of which outfit I will wear each day. It's for a very good reason! :rotfl: The white shorts are worn at the beginning of the week!

I found out during my last trip that white shorts don't work for me in the parks. I almost always sat in something dirty.

I try to follow make sure I pack the following for all vacations, not just WDW...

2 pairs of old undies per day...change in middle of day...throw out old pair each time. This leads to the need for 2 liners per day so count before packing. I seem to be cooler if I change clothes during the mid-day rest. I also try to change shoes, too...but I don't throw out the morning shoes :) ALthough I remember one time I had a pair of very very old sneakers I wouldn't get rid of. Finally took them on a trip and threw them out at the end.

Large band aids, I think they are 3x4 size. About the only thing that will stay on my heels.

My pink flask...a gift from my dear mom. Place in double ziploc baggies in luggage. A girl needs a nice adult beverage at the end of a hard day of touring. Put on robe, send DH to the ice machine, ahhhhhhhhhhh

Allergy and cold medicines (day and night kinds), eyedrops, other meds

Mints and Hershey bars, for when I need a sugar fix

Extra scrunchies/hair things because guaranteed, one breaks on the trip!

Extra shoelaces for sneakers (see above)

Melissa

I wore white shorts to the park (prior to Miss Flo's visit) and I was amazed that the shorts weren't nearly as filthy looking as I thought they would be

Good idea... I am crossing my fingers that aunt flo doesn't appear for me when i go to the parks, so I've gotten shorts that are black or navy blue, and they work well with the light color shirts I've got packed...

I had to do that for my wedding. Nothing worse than having that time of the month on your wedding day! :scared1:

I found that my period was a little bit messed up the first month I tried to change my schedule with birth control. It got better after another month or so.

did you start it for the first time or have you been on it for a few months? if you just started the first pack either ever or after you've been off for awhile that could be why. could be if you're just starting your not on a high enough dose. i finally got mine after gogin througha m/c and started the pill and no word of a lie while being on it i had af for 7 weeks! then my doc started me on a new pack. that helped a lot!!!!

i know i started back about 2 months ago now, now on third pack, and i have to skip this month so i don't have it at the end of september for our trip. been there done that, got the tshirt, so not fun! i will never have af at disney again if i can avoid it!
