some girlfriends and i were talking the other night. we got around to one of the girls birthdays and how we wanted to celebrate! one of the girls said a carribean beach. ( i say girls like we arent all grown women!) well i got to thinking. one of the girls is at the very beginning of a divorce and is becoming a single mom of three. i am a single mom of one. and the other is out to save everyone from themselves. we all sort of work together. we are all severly overworked and in desperate need of a vacation. i am thinking we could start planning one, for say 2006?. i want to get facts and figures together. i know that the friend going through the divorce could find a sitter for her kids. and am hoping that maybe i can get one too. we could do a girls only sort of vacation. i have never even contemplated doing anything without DS ever. so this is a big step for me. i need to do something for me and not always for him. sounds selfish doesn't it? anyway, i am just looking for some suggestions. maybe an all inclusive sort of thing. the only thing is....we are VERY casual kind of people!

No ideas here, Angela, just wanted to say it is nice to see ya. :wave2: And Lissa yesterday too.

You could come to Hawaii. You can look around for the cheapest flights, and it is nice and sunny all year long. You won't have to really worry about the way you dress, you can relax at the pool or the beach, go to a luau, and just have fun.
If you need more info. pm me.

hi dan! good to see you too. got a promotion at work a couple of weeks ago. they have been keeping me pretty busy!

mommytotwo~ thanks not a bad idea. maybe i will look into it. any suggestions or ideas for me would be helpful. thanks!

anyone else have any ideas?

It really depends on what type of activities or atmosphere you are looking for. The Caribbean offers a large variety of options - all with sun & sand! Some islands are more developed and "touristy" and have more activities & nightlife, while others are more laidback and quiet. If you want lots of activity and nightlife, I've seen some great package deals for Cancun. If you're thinking of the Caribbean or the Bahamas, I'd recommend going to a site like www.frommers.com and reading about the various islands, to see which might suit your tastes.

May I suggest a 3 or 4 day cruise? I went with a bunch (10, actually) of girls for a "moms-go-wild" weekend (well, not TOO wild!). It was a ball. We were pampered and waited-on so much that we can't wait to do it again.

We found a great deal off-season (the whole thing was around $400 including flight from Boston to Miami) and everything was included. We had 2 beach days (Nassau and private island) as well as nighttime entertainment.

Just something to consider.

well, i would definitely be looking for something touristy. i can't just sit and laze on the beach for vacation. i have one of those just up the street from me! :teeth: i like to do things. that is why i go to disney! i would love to do a girls only disney but they would not be into it. cancun sounds fun!
Kasar~ where did you find that cruise? that may be something worth looking at.

thanks for the advice!

I'm always on the lookout for travel deals. It all started because we were planning on going to Cape Cod or New Hampshire for a little get away. I stopped by the BJ's travel kiosk and the woman there told me that the cruise lines were practically giving cruises away (you need to go off season - fall or early spring). It was cheaper for us to go on a Caribbean cruise than to stay at a hotel near us - go figure.

Check with AAA or Bj's Travel - you can also check online sites like travelocity but with a large group it's nice to have a "real" travel agent who's local to help with planning.

We went on Royal Caribbean but I think Carnival has the best deals lately. Have fun planning, let us know what you decide.
