Vacation Planning -- What is This?

I have been reading the these boards for the last 13 months in preparation for our Nov. 07 trip to DL. We are really looking forward to this trip! I have seen some posts that mention "vacation planning" has been contacted to obtain priority seating for meals or tickets for the fantasmic reserved seating. I am curious, what are they referring to?

I think I have a different answer. Considering who I'm differing from, there's a chance I'm wrong.

Vacation Planning is who I contacted before our Paradise Pier stay, to check on gift baskets and such I was thinking about ordering. For those staying onsite, VP can *also* be used to make Priority Seatings and things like the Fantasmic special viewing. Seems like a concierge thing to me, though I'm not sure they get tipped like a proper Concierge would, b/c I'm not sure you ever SEE them!

When I called, they emailed back a list, and at the end of that list was contact info:

You can think of Vacation Planning at the Concierge before you arrive at the Disneyland Resort Hotels. If you are staying at the Grand, DLH, or PPH, then you can call or e-mail them for assistance before you arrive. Priority seating for dining, Fantasmic seating, massage appointments, room amenities, themed baskets, transportation from airports, park questions, etc. Any questions that you might have before you arrive. They can be reached at 714-300-PLAN or vacationplanning@disneyonline.com.

It's a great service, although I miss Dana and Valerie. They were really excellent cast members.

Thank you for the compliment, but it looks like I was wrong. Yes, it does happen that I get things wrong.

I'm glad you posted the phone numbers. I did not realize they can do spa appointments too. I'll have to contact them about that- my mom was supposed to call Mandara last week and never got around to it. Can they arrange character calls too?

The Vacation Planning People at DL are a godsend! We booked through Disney on our last trip and wow, the little things they did to make our trip wonderful were incredible, going above and beyond the call of duty. Whe we started talking about going in 2008 the first thing my husband asked was if I have the phone number to those people who looked after everything! I do! Confused about any aspect of your trip, call Vacation Planning they will help you out!!!

Will they help you even if you didn't book a package through them? We are staying at the DLH, but we booked it through a different agency.

As long as you are staying at one of the three DLR hotels you can use them. They are really great!

Vacation Planning is truly the best help around. I used to have a gentlemen assist on all our trips, but he passed away and I very much miss him. I've requested the latest list of baskets and prices, because mine is 2 yrs old and very outdated. I wouldn't plan a trip without them!
