Ok so I'm here to vent please forgive me. Let me know what you would do. Here's the scoop.
Way back in February we booked a room at a more popular hotel in Orlando (not disney). We were first given a price of $2700.00 to which we promptly declined. Then we got the ever popular "oh just wait a minute please" and they came back with a total price of $1800.00. Well we booked it because we knew it was a good deal for that place during March Break. We asked for a confirmation email with a total and got a confirmation with a price but not a TOTAL. Being the pessimist that I am, I called twice more to get the same $1800.00 price when I gave them my confirmation number. Thought I was safe.
Got to FLA after 22 hours of driving and arrived at the front desk to check in. Guess what happened. The price was $2700.00. OK so we tell them when we called we got a price of $1800.00 and they said they would review the tapes and if that was the case they would certainly give it to me. Problem solved right? WRONG.
Day 2.
I opened the pool gate only to have it catch the top of my foot. Lifeguards came flying over, safety people were there and the next thing I know I'm being transported to the clinic. 6 hours later I hobble out with 5 stitches in between my toes and on top of my foot. Guess that rules out the pool and Blizzard beach. And mom's going to be a bit slow walking through magic kingdom. Life sucks.
Day 3. Still no word about my bill. I suggest they call the reservation people give them the res # and see what they get. Of course they get the original price of $1800.00. We'll certainly fix that for you ma'am. O.k. Feeling better
Day 4 everything ok but my foot really hurts. Night manager asks for hospital paperwork to send into insurance co. and informs me that they will be contacting me before we leave. Why? I have no idea. My medical bills were covered. Thank You Canada for Free (almost) Health Care.
Day 5 looked at the bill and looks a little screwy but trust it will all be ok.
Day 6 OH No My bill says $0.00, what's going on??
Day 7 Ok now by bill has a different name on it?????
Day 8 Everything is fixed - RIGHT
Day 9 Finally leaving - checkout time the place is packed get to the front desk finally and she says "that will be $900.39. Ok. I've had enough, there are about a hundred people in line behind me and I'm going home. Pay the $900.39 and figure I'll straighten it out at home.
Day 11 get home YEAH. check my emails and bank statements etc and look at my Visa. Oh look $1139.00 charged to my visa from the hotel - 3 DAYS BEFORE I LEFT..... I was already to pay the entire bill in cash (travellers cheques) because I get a good deal on them, and now I'm stuck with $1000.00 in U.S. travellers cheques. a $1139 visa bill (do you know they charge 2 1/2% on top of the exchange.) and 5 stitches in my foot. Called the hotel today but I'm not really sure I trust them to fix this. I don't want that charge on my visa, I'd rather send them a cheque because I don't want to lose money exchanging it back to CDN$.
And do you know what I got for the 6 hours at the hopital and 5 stitches in my foot because for some reason they put a metal plate on the bottom of their gate - go ahead guess???
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!
This is a very popular hotel, it's bright orange and neon colours, you can't miss it.
So what do you think? What would you do??
