VA Compensation!

Morning everyone!

On September 10th I sent four claim forms off to Virgin Atlantic - one for myself, my husband, my seventeen year old brother and my nan. This was for a 20 hour delay we experienced back in September 2009. This is the same flight that Zoe (zippy99) recently fought VA successfully for.

I was, based on her and others experiences, expecting a long, drawn out fight...but was thrilled to receive two letters in the post this morning for me and my husband, with a cheque for £507.79 each!

My Nan is away at the moment, but hopefully the cheques for her and my brother will have been sent there.. *fingers crossed*

So happy, it only took a few minutes to fill the forms out from their website and send them off. Oh, and thanks Zoe for your advice!

:yay:

Wow that's great news.:cheer2:

I would be straight looking for flights back to Disney. lol

What a nice surprise!

Like PP, I would be looking at spending that ASAP! ;) In fact, our WDW trip was booked partly because we had a £200 credit from BA after a problem with our trip this summer, and when we looked up destinations from Gatwick (our nearest airport... I have no desire to ever visit Heathrow ever again!), Orlando popped up and an idea was born! :goodvibes

ETA: I love your Tangled signature, btw! :D

Fantastic, still hope for our Oct 2012 claim then - we were delayed 25 hours:thumbsup2

We were delayed by 10 hours in August 2008 and were given 5000 miles each and put up in the Hyatt overnight .... Does anyone know if accepting these miles disqualifies us from claiming compensation?

Hi Zippy99 I read through the money expert thread last night, hell of a fight you had there ..... Well done for sticking to your guns. There was a reference to my flight on there but no outcome, think we had a knock on delay from a problem with an engine. Funny thing was I read this post on my way home from Norwich yesterday but couldn't remember when it happened! Came home did a search on here and found all my posts for August 2008 and there was a whole thread from various members about the delay including all the stats AND one from me with the date and flight no. :0). The Diss rocks! I rest my case ..... See all our hours on here do have a purpose lol!

Now to fill in the claim forms.

Sharon

This thread has motivated me into looking for flights we have been delayed on, I spent a few hours last night searching emails and we have 3 flights that have had delays since 2007, im pretty sure there may be a few more easy jet type delays which I may look into later.

Anyone know if there is a list anywhere that people have made successful claims against airlines?

Not that I've found but there's an excellent thread on money saving expert ..... Were you caught up in all the delays from the 23rd - 26th August? I had no idea when ours was until I did a Search on the dibb, so helpful in compiling the claim ..... Probably little hope but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Just wanted to post here to let people know it's definitely worth chasing up any delays.
As in my previous post this thread spurred me to looking for the info on a few delayed flights and I sent 2 off to Virgin on the 17th and have today received a cheque each for me and DH for £511 each! it only took 2 weeks.
I'm still waiting on my other claim but im guessing I might need to peruse that one. Happy days £1000....

Wow Sam thats great. Extra spending or money for goodies. X

After my 24 hour Delay in June as the Pilot went sick, I too expected a fight to get my money- they paid up within 6 weeks! Was very surprised as on MSE there are lots of negative experiences

I've just had four standard "were looking into your claim" letters ....... Guess I could have a fight on my hands

OMG so excited .... Just received four cheques for £505.80 each for delayed flight August 2008 .... Thank you so much to the OP for posting this thread, would never have applied without it ..... Absolutely thrilled xxxx
