V&A Chef's Table

NOW we expect a review from YOU....when should I mark you into my calender?

:rotfl: :teeth:

WOW the list of expected reviews is really growing!! Looks like a trend is starting here, like I've said before we only hope we can live up to the standard you have placed before us :rotfl:

All I know is DW2B is planning on photographing EVERYTHING we eat :rotfl2: and wants to carry a little book for notes, you really got her excited about posting this review.......too bad it's so far away still :sad2:

I must say this has been a very fun thread!!

We have reservations at V&A on May 28, dining with friends. I expect we'll be a little noisy, since three of us are planning on the wine pairing. Apologies in advance to anyone dining that night.

A couple of questions, I notice that you got a bit of everything on the menu. I had assumed that we would make our choices from the menu for each course. Is this the difference between the regular dining room and the chef's table? It would be lovely to try everything!

And do you think they could adapt the wine pairings for me? I've recently developed a bad reaction to red wine, but I can still drink white!

Thanks!

I'm sure you can be accomodated. However, I would suggest you call the restaurant directly, about a week before your reservation, and let them know in advance. This way they can be prepared for your special needs.

The restaurant is very well noise-protected, so noise from the kitchen does not get to the dining area.

The two times I have been at CT we got everything that was on the menu except, if I recall correctly, our meal did not include the Breast of Canadian Pheasant the time it was served. Usually the appetizers and desserts were plated separately and we would share. The entrees (in smaller portions) were plated together.

I will be going again, this time with three women, less than a week after you.

Okay, Mr. "Food Addict," :rotfl: maybe you can help me with other dining choices too, since I have to make my PSs before you go on vacation. We've officially decided that we can go to WDW on 2 days. We've chosen Epcot one day and MGM the other. We will eat in the parks both days. What do you suggest? I was thinking Brown Derby for MGM (I LOVE that place!), but what about Epcot? Have you eaten at either Marrakesh or L'Originale...(the Italian place with the really long name)? If so, what were your thoughts? Would either of those be okay, or do you have another suggestion?

Thanks! :flower:

(P.S. I will want a full report when you return, though. As you can see, my "official" next trip to WDW is August '06, and it's for 2 weeks, so I'll have plenty of time to plan out all the fabulous places to eat then, so I look forward to all your info!)

My dh and I love love love Marrakesh. The food and atmosphere is wonderful, AND a lot of people are a little *scared* to eat Moroccan (sp) food, so there has never been a reason for us to worry about getting in (although in Aug it may be a different story). I would put this on a "must eat" list!

And to Mister Disney himself a great big THANKS!! I will be doing the chef's table whenever possible. Hmmm...maybe I should try to get reservations and then book my trip around it????
Thanks!!

I've enjoyed this thread so much. I definately have to try V&A one year. Perhaps when the children are older and we can send them for burgers and fries while we enjoy the wonderful meals shared here.

I got hungry just viewing the pictures on this thread.

Thank you

MisterDisney,

FIrst i'd like to say that you and your partner are VERY handsome!! :flower:
Second, OMG to your review!!! I've never been to V&A, but OMG i'd love too..
The question is...how do i convince my DH to spend that kind of $$$$?? :confused3 (he's a little cheap) :rotfl:

BINGO...the difference betweent he dining room and the CT table is the interactions with the Chefs, but also that on CT they try to give you a sampling of everything on the menu that day.

In the dining room, you pick 1 offering from each course.

I've not been to V & A's, but I have been lurking on this thread since it started. Thanks to all of you, especially MisterDisney, for the reviews and the outstanding pictures! I think this is my favorite thread! I would like to nominate MisterDisney for some sort of award and ongoing column something. I'm also reading with great interest the thread about bringing pixie dust to others at the world (and in the regular world also) and I'm not surprised that so many of the same posters are in both threads!
Thanks again. You guys are awesome! :cheer2:

My sil also developed an allergy to red wines, she found out it was sulfites, and some white wines have it... good luck!

WOW...thank you....we'll be back in the dining room on June 1...so we'll do more review and the other places we're eating.

First off, misterdisney, thanks for the awesome report with photos! I want to do the CT, but our 8yo dd wouldn't be welcome, I'm sure (she's a bit rambunctious and eats next to nothing). Next trip we will be with friends and will leave all our kids together at the Neverland Club one evening, so may get a chance! How far out do we make PS? 180 days, right? I will be trying for the list or the cancellations, thanks for that info.
Usually the appetizers and desserts were plated separately and we would share. The entrees (in smaller portions) were plated together.
I was wondering if the pictures you showed were for the two of you to share, or did they bring you two of each of the plates you photographed? When I read this quote (I know, not by you!) I was a bit confused. If we have two or four or six, I assume we get more plates.....how does this work...? It looks like the entree plates came as one for you both to eat from, and the desserts also? (each course came on one large serving plate, and you each served yourself from that plate onto a smaller individual plate?)

With the exception of the Carmelized Bananas and Souffle desserts, we each got a plate of everything you saw.

The only dishes we had to share were the bananas and souffle....well...and the mac & cheese :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have to thank you for the wonderfully detailed review of what seems to be an unforgetable evening. I have to live vicariously through you for now, and your pictures and descriptions were wonderful! Maybe when the kids get a bit older (ok...a LOT older) we will attempt to enjoy the experience as well.
Thanks so MUCH!

I have stayed up way later than I should have! I first started with the "Post your pictures of Disney dining food here," then couldn't resist clicking on the link for this thread. I have always loved reading about food, and eating experiences. No one can quite understand my love for cooking/food essays. This thread has been extremely enjoyable, and the photos have been heavenly!

Thanks Mr.Disney, I look forward to the results of your upcoming trip! :goodvibes Who knows, I may take a few food photos of my own!

THAT is the idea...to spur OTHERS on to do the photo thing of their food.....

YUMMMMMM

AND...I will definitely be documenting the trip in June...I only joined DIS 2 months ago and I am HOOKED....

Wait till June...I'll do an update everyday (I Hope) while there.

Well, DH and I got up early yesterday and today, called and called on three different phones until we got the messages saying the lines were open and got right through to CSOs, but the tables were already booked.

DH is convinced that agents are entering in "choice" reservations for their friends as soon as they login to the computers in the morning. I say that someone just beat us to it by a few seconds. After all, yesterday's call was for a Saturday night, and today's was for a Sunday when MK closes 4 hours early.

Oh well.

I don't know what to say. I was lucky in that someone canceled or something. Don't give up on it though. I just kept calling back, because sometimes it happens. Another thing people don't realize is that Disney only schedule Chef's Table for certain nights, but then "new" nights open up as they get closer to the date.
