Okay, so what IS Kobe Beef?? Apparently it IS beef and it's AWESOME so I have heard. But what exactly is it?? What makes it so great? I will be dining at V&A soon and want to be a more informed consumer!!

I will be at the Chef's Table...will I get this if it is on the menu that night? I know it is normally an add on.

Kobe beef is from special Japanese cattle raised in a special Japanese prefecture in a special Japanese way. I think they feed them beer and give them daily massages. It's extremely marbled so it looks pink rather than red.

Most "Kobe" beef sold here is really "Kobe style" beef raised to be extremely marbled.

We had real Kobe (Japanese wagyu) beef at the Chef's Table last week. It was delicious. We had two different cuts -- filet (I think) and sirloin. It's extremely tender, flavorful and juicy. Note that it was served quite rare. It was included in our fixed price meal -- no additional charge.
