Thanks to anyone that can help me. We are very seriously considering purchasing 160 pts. at the AKV's. I have a UY question though. Do you get to pick what you want your UY to be? Also, if we typically travel in April or August, what UY would be in our best interest? Also, If we get the 160 developer points, could we bank our 1st years points from 09 into 2010? If we are able to do so, would we have to use all 320 points in 2010, or could we continue to bank 160 over to the next UY? Sorry if these questions are silly, I just really am so "green" when it comes to all of this DVC stuff!:goodvibes

Points can be banked from one year to the next but not to a third year. Thus, those 2009 points can be banked into 2010 but not 2011, but your 2010 points can be banked into 2011. Thus, if you bank 09 points into 10, those banked points must be used in 10 but the points issued in 10 can be banked into 11. The rule for banking points applies regardless of whether you get or do not get developer points. Developer points cannot be banked and the usual incentive for them has been that you must use them during your first year.

Use year has no impact on when you can go (anytime) or when you can call to reserve (11 months in advance at home resort, seven at others). Use year is important for banking. You can bank up to the end of the eighth month of your use year. Thus, if you usually go in April or August, your ideal use year would be December, February or March -- if you reserve a trip in April or August and have to cancel you will still be able to bank the points you used for that trip. Disney is usually selling a use year that begins a few months before the sale date but you can request another and if available at the time they will sell it to you.
