The more I thought of this, I felt I should just make it a new thread. Here it is:

I called MS on Wednesday morning July 11 to transfer some points. The CM said that since they were going from my 2008 Use Year into the other member's October 2007 Use Year, it might take up to 48 hours for the transfer to reflect. I stated that I thought the Use Year didn't matter because the points retained their original booking windows and resort priority. She said that while that was true, it still may take up to 48 hours for the transfer.

As of yesterday afternoon, July 13, the points had not transferred yet. The CM I spoke with yesterday said that there were notes on my account indicating the transfer had been initiated, just not completed. :headache:

This is the first time I've ever transferred points. How long does it usually take for the transfer to reflect on each member's inventory?

Thanks in advance for anyone with more insight into the transfer world,
Dan

everytime I did a transfer they were instant but that was a few years back so things could have changed

Dan,

I've dealt with transfers twice. The first time I transferred out to another member. We did a three way call and he was able to make his reservation immediately with the points that were transferred. This time, the transferred points I have were also transferred immediately. The other member called me to say it was done and when I called MS they were there.

You might have the other member check their 08 UY and see if they're there, since they were from your 08 UY. Another thing, I know with my transferred in points, once they were banked, the CM didn't "see" them at first (and when she did see them they weren't where they were supposed to be). She had to look them up somewhere. :confused3 It seems like they are trying to enforce the rules manually, but if the computer gets involved (banking/borrowing) it still wants to morph them.

I just did a transfer of December 2007 points to another member. Because the points weren't "current", MS said that the transfer had to be done manually and could take a couple of days. I explained to him that the member's booking window for using the points was just 2 days away and so that might be a problem. He put me on hold for a few minutes, and came back to say he'd had someone do the manual transfer specially, and that it was done.

So, I think you got accurate info from MS, there are some transfers they can't do and they have to pass it off to someone else to do manually,

I don't doubt that the information was accurate, it's just that the other member is in a similar situation as she is coming up on being close to her booking window. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for the transfer you did to reflect in both of your inventories? Was it immediately since the transfer had been done specially?

Thanks,
Dan

It took no time at all with this special handling, but if I handn't asked for someone to do it right away, I'm not sure how long it would've taken.

Just checked my points on DVC Member website and they have transferred! I guess somebody was working on Saturday!

Thanks for the responses. They put my mind at ease and patience paid off.

Regards,
Dan
