It sounds like a cool place to visit. How much time should I allow to see it?

Well it was a self guided tour except for going up into the, umm I don't remember what it's called but up where the captain sits and stuff. There are a few decks to explore and the planes up top were really fun to look at and read about. You could spend most of a day there if you wanted. I had my 8 year ols with me and we spent 3-4 hours there. There is a cafe on the back side of the ship. It was expensive but the food was good quality. Nothing special though burgers, hot dogs, warps and such. The gift shop had a lot of stuff to look at and I could have spent an hour or two just in there!
