Half-Price Caviar

I visited a Shop-Rite supermarket in a more affluent area than mine. It appears that they’re discontinuing their caviar because it’s not selling very well. It is displayed in the case with the fancy expensive cheeses.

Stock up now while you have the chance.

Have never bought any, but tried some during a Christmas party at a relatives house several years ago. It was SO salty, I laughed at that time and said the main reason it is popular was because of the high price.....................LOL.

We took my Mother out for her birthday last month, and she loves caviar, so talked her into the pricy caviar flight. I tried some for the first time (after avoiding it for years). It wasn't that bad, don't know if it was due to the quality or how it was presented or what. I don't know how I feel about 1/2 price caviar though...might not indulge in that!

Most of the places I’ve seen with caviar have them in locked refrigerators. One specialty supermarket plus BevMo.

I don’t think any of this is traditional from the Caspian Sea. I think it’s all farmed now outside of Iran or Russia (plus other countries in the area).

I had real Russian caviar once. Didn’t get what the big deal was.
