Hi,

Can someone just confirm for me that the difference in the two rate levels on the USrentacar is a tank of petrol and an additional driver.

If you don't take this option I assume the car will have enough petrol to get us to the nearest petrol station.

if you take the lower price its one driver full tank of fuel but you have to return full or you get charged the difference if not
the higher rate for extra drivers (think 3 not too sure)and full tank of fuel paid for so you can return empty, that is hard to do but have done several times

Thank you Paul,

While it would be handy to be able to drive it if needed not sure it is worth the hassle of trying to run it empty easier to fill it up near the airport.

or the extra £70 for that matter.

Depends which rental company it is USrentacar include additional driver in the lower rate with one, not sure which without looking.

They use to I know because I was on the one in Orlando 2008 and the West Coast in 2009 but it is now in the Gold Rate.

Probably because no one was taking up the offer of the "included" petrol.

buget extra driver in lower rate, there is some extra insurance with the gold rate, for us picking up at DDD just for a week so Alamo, if at airport there's a choice of providers

You had me worried then I booked Dollar thru them yesterday and paid extra for Gold. :rotfl2:
Had a look and its Budget, they offer extra driver free in lower rate, no need to pay for gold to get 2 drivers with them.

Collection and drop off from Miami Airport. 19th May - 3rd June

Dollar - picked because on airport rather than a shuttle to hire place with three kids, carseats, kitchen sink etc, and have Dollar Express card somewhere.

Sports Utility Vehicle - Jeep Grand Cherokee to fit all of above (need to be careful that all carseats fit in could have had a 7 seater but only 2 seats in middle row, feel bad about having two kids behind me and 1 way down the back on his/her own) Have checked suggest car (with no guarantee I know) and can fit three carseats in row.

Inclusive price £418.21 (includes LDW, SLI, UMP, Taxes and Fees)

Gold Rate £483.34 (includes LDW, SLI, UMP, Taxes and Fees, Additional Drivers 25 and over, Fuel)

So is this all I need? It would appear that they are charging extra £70 odd just for additional driver and fuel, wouldn't it.

It was late when I booked last night so I could easily have missed it and got it wrong myself.

I considered taking the Budget deal, it was £35 cheaper for the 7 seater we are renting but I decided I would rather pay the £35, get tank of gas included and go with Dollar who I prefer.

Yes Kirsten, insurance cover is exactly the same, you are only paying for Tank of fuel if you can manage with 1 driver.

we have just booked car thru dollar uk website picking up for easter at miami for 15 days, premium car platium insurance for £419 have tried all the other car sites and no one could beat dollar so worth a look
