Today we received marketing info on new Poly Tower - sent marketing info ONLY to my husband’s name even though we are both on the contract. Is this their standard procedure - to only send info to the household male? Because (if you can’t tell) it’s a serious pet peeve of mine. I receive emails because I have a separate email address, but shouldn’t they put all names in USPS correspondence? And if there’s only room for one name - do they always pick the male?

I can't be certain, but I think our mail comes to my husband too - I thought maybe b/c his name comes before mine alphabetically.

They never send anything addressed to both owners. Each individual owner should get their own.

Both my DH and I usually both get them. So, it is not a thing that it only goes to a specific owner.

I will say there are times one of us gets it and the other doesn’t get it for days to even weeks.

Maybe mine just didn’t come today then. As you can tell, I’m a bit defensive. I once had a car salesman tell me he wouldn’t talk to me about a car’s price unless my husband was present, and I haven’t recovered since! 😅. Thanks!

I’m alphabetically first, but someone mentioned below one addressed to me might still be in the mail. (It’s not that I need a piece of mail… just that it seemed like they “picked” to send it to the male’s name. I’m the originator of the contract, so I suspect my name is first on the deed , although I didn’t check yet.

DVC mail and actually all Disney mail comes addressed to me. On our membership, DH is listed as Purchaser and I’m Co-Purchaser. But I’m the one who does all the booking, online dues payments, etc., through my member website login. He almost never logs in - which might mean his Communications settings aren’t set for him to get mail from them!

Have you ever dug down into your Communications settings? I was amazed to see what’s in there.

I get emails and I pay dues with receipt coming to me, but snail mail is addressed to him.

Everything is in my husbands name, I even had to get my login to allow MS to talk to me. We are both on the contract, unsure how or why he is primary but he is.

With some names it is really difficult to tell who is the male and who is the female, so I doubt if that is the explanation. I think they just send it to the first person listed on the deed.

It is a gripe with me too that they can't find a way to put both names on the materials. My husband is completely uninvolved with the booking process, so I always find it amusing to ask him to take care of whatever is in the envelope. 🙄

I’ll look in Communications like you suggested. But same - I’m the purchaser, dues payer, vacation booker, website stalker, etc. He’s blissfully unaware of any of it - just wants vacations booked and tell him when! If they send any dues bills to him and I don’t bring in the mail that day, he’ll think it’s junk mail and shred it. 😝

You should have your husband call them and try to correct this.

What's interesting is I am listed on the deed first and all other closing documents where a signature is required, but they put my husband as "principal contact" on the purchase agreement. My name also comes after him in the alphabet, so that couldn't be the default, but left him as the principal contact. I was mildly peeved when I saw that. He has never even set up his login or member ID card. 🤣

I actually had them change it back to me, since it does potentially have some implications in the event of a future conflict. (Although the thought of my husband having any interest in how we use our DVC membership is so unfathomable, tbh.)

This is us as well, I am the male and the Purchaser, wife is the Co-Purchaser, but I am usually the one who "does stuff" - calls MS, books online, etc. And my first name is before my wife alphabetically.

But still all snail mail comes addressed to her.

As such, I don't think that there is some male-dominated conspiracy. If anything, it seems more random than anything.

I find myself in somewhat of an opposite scenario. My wife is the only one who receives any correspondence in our family; I don't even receive emails from DVC even though I have my own DVC account which my email is attached to. I'm guessing it's because when we paid for our contracts the checks were made out from her bank account (which I'm not listed on). I am listed as the co-purchaser but she's listed as the main purchaser. She always has to forward me anything DVC sends her via email.

I am the only one who gets mail and am listed as the purchaser contact. He is on the deed but is not able to call and make reservations. It has been this was since our initial purchase in 1999.

Oh my gosh… same on every level!

My spouse doesn't even have a DVC portal log in of his own or access to his digital membership card. He doesn't know our guides name or what we would do to buy the Poly. On the other side, I have made buying a contract my second job.

Let me go investigate this communication business.
