USPS mail ONLY sent to male’s name?

If it makes you feel any better, I'm in a same-sex marriage, and only one of us gets any of the mail addressed to us - and it's the one of us that is listed as the additional purchaser and has no idea how to make a reservation, how many points we have, or that a DVC forum like this one even exists 🤣🤣🤣

Huh? These mailings have been coming LONG before AI has been in use. We don't even know if Disney is using it now. That has nothing to do with it.
AI has been used in marketing since the 60's. I would be just as willing to believe that they are randomly picking a name to see if having marketing mailed to anyone listed on the membership spurs a sale.

Even if that's true, why would Disney use AI - which wasn't cheap or mainstream until just recently - to decide who gets picked to receive mailings? I guarantee that it's much less nuanced than some mysterious/chauvinistic AI. As others have said, there's probably a box buried on our online Dashboard somewhere that none of us remembers.

Today we received marketing info on new Poly Tower - sent marketing info ONLY to my husband’s name even though we are both on the contract. Is this their standard procedure - to only send info to the household male? Because (if you can’t tell) it’s a serious pet peeve of mine. I receive emails because I have a separate email address, but shouldn’t they put all names in USPS correspondence? And if there’s only room for one name - do they always pick the male?
Interestingly, we received that brochure (only 1 copy), addressed to my husband's first name + my last name (which is different than his). I actually dropped a note to our guide about it, and he was similarly perplexed. 🤷‍♀️

Maybe mine just didn’t come today then. As you can tell, I’m a bit defensive. I once had a car salesman tell me he wouldn’t talk to me about a car’s price unless my husband was present, and I haven’t recovered since! 😅. Thanks!
Happened to me in 1987 when I was buying myself a new Jeep. The sales guy kept talking with my husband. My husband told him to talk with me. Kept it up and I walked out to buy at a different dealership.

I also had a salesman walk out on me when my husband wasn’t present for a window replacement estimate. That was 1994.

It hasn’t happened since. In fact, just today I had a new roof installed that I took all the estimates for with no issue. I still have the husband, but he’s not as necessary as he used to be! 😂

No. I’m listed first. He’s the co-owner, or associate owner, or whatever they call it. Enough people have responded that it’s random - so I’ve come back down to Earth. 😅

It is probably the same reason why my daughter gets mail/offers from AAA all the time but it is MY membership and she is just an additional card. I think it is funny.

I’d never had it happen, ever, and this was just in 2016. I was just like 🤯 mind blown. I couldn’t even wrap my head around the idea that this salesman even said that! *Spoiler alert* Did not buy a car from him!

Most of our mail is addressed to DH, and I am the primary.

This is just not Disney related, though, for us. We were on a non-Disney cruise last week, and there was an envelope in our room one night after dinner. “Mr, XXXX, please accept a $50 gift card for the spa.”

I'm pretty sure there is no chauvinistic or sexist intent. The DVC sales mailings in our house come to my wife for whatever reason even though I handle everything timeshare-related and am the primary contact on our membership... go figure! Fortunately, I'm also the one who picks up the mail... but it's actually been annoying me a bit seeing those flashy brochures addressed to her :-)

This correspondence came in my wife's name. Both our names are on the contract, mine is listed first. She has never logged onto a Disney site of any kind, certainly not DVC :-) They know they have me hooked. Perhaps an attempt to get her to urge me to purchase more? :worship:
