It looks like I will be going to a conference/tradeshow for work in November. It will be held at the Royal Pacific Resort, and I need a bunch of help. I'm a WDW resort veteran, but I've never stayed at an USO resort before. What do I need to know? Is there adequate parking at the resort? It is a nice hotel? My company will pay for the room, but is there a way to get a cheap upgrade (like a better room view/club level upgrade/etc.)? I have a Disney Club membership (which comes with an entertainment club membership), will the entertainment club get me a discount? I also have AAA if that helps. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. :)

Hi,

I can't help you with all of your questions, but, yes, your Entertainment Card will get you a discount at the Universal resorts. Also, make sure to sign up for a Loew's card at http://www.loewshotels.com/ for upgrade possibilities, daily paper, welcome gift and free fitness room usage.

Since I'm going to be at RPR in November, I was curious as to when your conference is? Thanks!

Thanks for your help, nicole! My conference is Nov. 3-5, but it's pretty small so you probably wouldn't notice it, and I'm sure it won't impact attendance/occupancy too much. :)

Parking is NOT free. Disney Club excludes Orlando hotels. I think you need a "real" entertainment card. PBH actually asked to see my card. AFAIK Swan/Dolphin is the only Orlando hotel that honors Entertainment rates with DC card.

I'd rate the PBH as being about on the same level as the GF. RP has smaller rooms. The 3 Universal hotels are deluxe. There aren't a lot of cheap food options (as is true with most deluxe hotels).

Coming over to the DARK side!! :p

Lucky you, getting a free room at the RPR.

First, get yourself a Loews First card at www.loewshotels.com You can try for an upgrade but it depends on what available at the time of check in.

There is adequate parking and yes, it's not free. Will your company be paying for that, too?

Is it a nice hotel? Well, you come back and let me know!

PM or call me if you need any more help.

LOL, Robin! I figure that Disney is getting enough of my money this year that they will forgive me for staying at USO for a couple of nights. :teeth:

I signed up for the Leows First card (with the milk and cookies option, LOL).

What I was thinking is that if I could get a better rate on my own than the convention rate (which doesn't seem to be much of a discount at all), maybe my company would pay the same amount for me to stay club level. It would really come in handy on a business trip to have some goodies out all day (I will have breaks a couple hours at a time during the expo breaks, so I will not have enough time to go far off for any meals). Here's to hoping anyhow. :)
