Has anyone on here used Uber while on property to switch hotels during a split stay or go to the parks? We will be having a quick SSR / BLT split stay coming up in September and didn't want to rent a car because we will be using Disney transportation for most of the trip. But trying to transfer our luggage on a bus to BLT from SSR just seems like a pain!

Thanks!!!

You're actually not allowed to bring your luggage on the buses. You have 2 options:

1. Let Bell Services transfer them. They'll be at resort #2 around 3-4 in the afternoon. But we're at the parks all day on transfer day so we don't mind.

2. Taxi or Uber

We used Uber in the spring to transfer from Universal Hard Rock to Disney Beach Club, and then used it again to get from an Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurant back to our resort (BC again). Also used it last winter to get from Boardwalk to Contemporary one late night. Make sure you install the app on your phone and set up an account before you leave home. It's easy and reasonably priced. Drivers were all friendly.

We usually just have bell services move our luggage, head to whatever park we are doing for the day and then head to the new resort to check in after check in time in the afternoon. Then we head out for our evening activities once we are settled into our new room.

Having said all that, I used Uber to get around quite a bit on my last two WDW trips and it was super easy and convenient.

Did they have any problems dropping you off at Contemporary? Did you have a reservation there?

We exclusively use Uber/Lyft when going Resort to Resort. We don't move our bags that way, we let Bell Services handle that.
We rarely have reservations at our destination hotel, most often we do it to get to Epcot via International Gateway, since we eat there often.
We also frequently use Uber to get to to the Contemporary to walk to MK. DH's idea of us being where we need to be on time is to leave our Resort at the time we are supposed to be someone so we are left using a car vs. buses more often than necessary. But it is what it is.
We've never had a problem with the security guards letting our driver in to drop us off. The driver says they are dropping off and the guards don't even ask why.

Luggage is not allowed on buses going to/from the theme parks. You can either let Disney move your bags, or grab a cab/Uber and move them with you.

thanks for the input everyone!! how much does it typically cost to get around disney property? also, has anyone used uber to get to the airport? Everyone in our party has TSA precheck, and the magical express leaves a lot earlier than we normally would to get to the airport. We would basically be sitting around the airport for 1.5-2 hours before our flight. We considered taking uber to the airport.

Cost wise isn't that bad;

Plus at a place like Disney there always tends to be available drivers no matter what.

MCO trips are about $25
In Property trips are about $7 (on avg)
We add tip to those

Does Bell Services transfer them fully to the next room or do you need to call for it after getting to resort #2? We will be facing the same issue on a future trip and looking to plan accordingly when at the park the next day.

Bell Services at Resort #2 will hold them. Then once you are physically in your room at resort #2 call Bell Services and they will bring them up.

Yeah, luggage transfer with bell services is NOT like ME bag services.
They will not drop the bags in your room for you. They will move them from resort to resort and you must call for them and be in your room for them to be delivered.

I never thought to use Uber at Disney, what a great idea. We always relied on the DTS. How quickly do the Ubers usually arrive after the reservation is placed?

From BLT to SSR, UberX is quoting $8-$11. From SSR to the airport, UberX quotes $18-$23. UberX will always be cheaper than a taxi. But if you have more than 2-3 adults, especially with luggage, you may want to use UberXL which will be a larger vehicle and slightly more expensive.

When you place the request for an Uber, it will tell you about how far away it is. You can see an ETA before you place the order as well. Currently at 9:30am on a Tuesday, they're about 5 minutes out from BLT for UberX. UberXL and other lines of Uber may be longer as there's usually fewer of them.

Sorry for the delay in reply--on vacation (not disney). We were staying at the contemporary that trip, so we had no issue with uber dropping us off, but I do remember our uber car having to stop at the gate of both the contemporary and at BC when we stayed there and having to disclose that we were guests of the resort. One guy at the BC actually looked up our name to confirm that.

We used uber multiple times last week. We stayed at BC and used it to get to the Poly for an early morning breakfast and to get to Disney Springs multiple times. It will be cheaper than a cab and everything in done online/credit card. The app is easy enough to download and use. We also used the referral systems where you refer someone and you get a free ride after they get a free ride for being referred. It works nicely. Again, much cheaper than a cab and much easier for getting from resort to resort or to Disney Springs. We will NEVER take a bus to Disney springs again.
