We switched from a Northern Baltic cruise next year to a Med cruise. This left us with a number of reservation points to be used in 2010. We are planning to use them for a stay at the GF in May. We will be using points for 4 nights stay and then pay cash for a couple more nights. My first questions is whether I will be able to link the reservation for cash to the one with points. The next question is whether we will be able to add the Delux Dining Plan to the stay. If so, does anyone know how much they are charging for the Deluxe plan? On Deb's site it shows the 2009 rates as $71.99 for adults and $20.99 for kids. Thanks for any help!

Yes you will be able to add the DxDP to your stay at the GF. I don't believe that CRO & MS reservations can be linked. You could have a note added to both and maybe you won't have to move.

The 2010 dining plans rates are not out yet.

Thanks for the quick response. I wonder how they will handle the dining plan if we can't link the reservations. I wonder if we will even be able to get the plan for the nights we pay cash. I guess I may have to give MS a call to find out. Has anyone every done this before?

I don't think that you can reserve the GF for cash from MS. I believe that MS can only reserve DVC resorts for cash.

The only way you can add the deluxe dining to your GF cash stay is to buy a package including a ticket. The cash & points stays will be separate for the dining plan. In other words, you would have to use the dining credits from each stay separate. If the first 4 nights are points, you could use the dining plan through day 5 of that stay (you would check-out on day 5 from that reservation). Then either pay out of pocket for meals the last 2 days or add the plan separate for those (plus buy a ticket). If it was me, I would just pay for meals separate for the last 2 days.

I was afraid of that. Since we are eating at a few Signature restaurants, we better just stick to paying cash and skip the dining plan.

Does anyone know if there is any hope of linking the reservations? I sure hate to think that we might have to move.

Just make sure the reservations are for the exact same room type (for example, both garden view or both park view). Since you will already be in the room, chances are they will not make you move. Be sure to note both reservations & remind them at check-in. Go to the front desk early on the day you have to get new keys.

If you have or are going to get an AP, consider getting the Tables in Wonderland card. This is the new name for the Disney Dining Experience and it will get you a 20% at almost every TS location and a few CS locations. The discount is also good on adult beverages. The discount is good for the cardholder and up to 9 additional people on the same check. The cost is $75 for passholders and the card is good for about 13 months.

That card always sounds like a good idea. But we can't seem to get our trips to work out to use an AP. No matter how we try there always seems to be more than a year apart. This past trip we had even thought about buying just one AP to get the discount. But after calculating what we would save, it didn't make sense for us.
